RESULTS:

-Tories on route to become second party in Scotland
-Labour does better than expected in England
-Only major upset is Labour losing to Leanne Wood in Rhondda
-SNP don't yet have a majority in Scotland
-Labour don't yet have a majority in Wales

Oh, and, HMS Ark Royal won't like this at all: Labour holds Kingston-upon-Hull. :D

Lost somewhere within Bank-Monument tube station,
Good lord, Neil Hamilton's been elected to the Welsh Assembly. Shows really how much UKIP hold Wales in contempt when this sycophant was on the top of their regional list.

Good night for Labour here in Ipswich, my ward stayed red and they gained two more councilors in the town. Still waiting for PCC results, I split my preference between Labour and the Lib Dems.

Should hopefully be a comfortable win for Sadiq in London this evening, though I reckon the result will be closer than the polls suggest. Wonder what job Lynton "dead cat" Crosby will be moved to this time?

I knew about all my Crime Commissioners... but my vote was taken away and as a result I lost all faith that the election is fair and valid.
Only around 20% of those who could vote did in my council, luckily East Marsh made the correct choice by voting for the only candidate who actually lives in the ward (Lib Dem). But some have therefor won with less than 10% of votes, what a farce, I don't care for the system or the politicians anymore.

Last time in the PCC election here in Humberside, John Prescott won, but the Alternative Vote (which lost it's refferendum) recounted the far right votes until Matthew Gove won. All he did for Grimsby was get caught breaking the speed limit when in town and cutting coppers. I'm losing faith in the police too.

Your vote was 'taken away' because?

PCC elections use supplementary vote (ie second preferences are taken into account) and not alternative vote.

Results are starting to trickle through (see here). Interestingly turnout appears to be up so far (though still abysmal) but I wonder if that is in areas where there were other elections going on at the same time?

The link produces an error when using the BBC News App in my Android phone.

Given the low turn out. I'm surprised it's taking so long to declare results today.

Working fine on desktop! If you go to the main Election 2016 page on the BBC News website it can be found under the Police tab.

My area now has a turnout (but no result) and the turnout is up 5%. This is very surprising to me considering that the PCC was the only election going on in my area!

I managed to open it up in an incognito Web page on my mobile chore browser. I don't use a desktop Web browser as much these days.

People are moving away from that, even if not all companies, not the BBC here I add, are clinging to the past.

Perhaps the publicity surrounding elections helped.

I did wonder how the rail problems in South West Trains affected yesterday's elections. I know of one polling station near a station receiving no trains. People would come in to vote before or after catching a train.

Given there were no trains, did they make a special effort to vote or did they get caught up in other things, such as may be finding another route to work and forget?

Jeremy Corbyn say's "we hung on". For crying out loud, the Tories are in disarray with some unpopular policies and all we can do is "hang on". Might as well give up now Jeremy.

Didn't even both voting, my region was only P&CC elections which, to my mind is pointless, police forces should be led at the highest point by their Chief Constable, not some elected space filler.

The Lib dens seem to arrange with you but still felt they had to return a candidate rather than not.

It is an absolute embarrassment that Corbyn and the rest of his comrades like McDonnell are trying to spin this as anything but a setback. I saw Diane Abbott on the BBC earlier trying to argue that the results means they'll win in 2020! Totally deluded!

Hopefully the moderate Labour voices stand up and evict the crazies who are running Labour off the cliff.

That Blairism sure is doing well in Scotland, isn't it! It's patently obvious the whole party should go that way, right?

Whilst Corbyn undoubtedly has to try harder, the local elections in England hardly seem to suggest that the public is hankering after a market obsessed, Euro-fanatic Blairite as leader.

Perhaps the other squabbling factions of the parliamentary Labour party need to take some responsibility for a less than electric performance.

For my two-pennarth, I think they need a distinctive policy aimed towards working people that the Tories won't do because, at heart, they are a party of their class. My suggestion would be to adopt the Danish law of only allowing people to buy homes if they've been a resident for a certain amount of time. They could call it "The Danish Law" to emphasise the fact that it works in other successful countries.

They would also need to state that they are prepared to fight the EU for it if needs be (don't forget that Denmark had to fight for an opt-out). I suspect that showing some backbone against the EU might make the party more attractive to the electorate.

I shall not be voting, unless I choose to 'spoil' my ballot paper.

I was very, very tempted to do this last time, as I also object to the position and feel it should be a non-political role. In the end I voted for the only independent candidate standing. It was pretty much the same story this time.

You think there should be no democratic accountability at all? Even the old system used elected councillors to oversee the police. Operational autonomy on individual cases is firmly vested in the chief constable.

I respect that you are, like me, a member of the labour Party and I recall that you voted for Liz Kendall, the candidate endorsed by the New Labourites. She got about 5%. Do you not see that the 'New Labour experiment' is dead? Given that the whole of the media is against Corbyn and is happy to distort or not report anything he says, then yes, Labour has done well to hang on. Did you see John Pienaar on the BBC the other night relishing in the prospect of Labour losing 150-200 seats? He's a bit quiet today. Lots of media reports about how Labour would lose Crawley, they retained it, so that's not news. Oh, and apparently Sadiq Khan has won the London Mayoral elections with the largest share since Livingstone's first victory..despite all the pundits stating that the anti-semitism row had harmed his campaign.

I had to put up with many things under Blair that really annoyed me, (after initially having high hopes), Cameron is his logical successor...do you really want someone who talks like a Tory to be leading the Labour party?

I would be interested to know exactly which policies that Jeremy Corbyn espouses that you don't like...support for the NHS? better housing for the less well off? Worker's rights? Austerity? Widening gap between rich and poor? Education? (oh u-turn by the tories on that already, burying bad news day)..or, of course, spending billions on a useless weapons system. I could go on.
You might have to do what I did, stay in the party under protest or perhaps think what you and the party really should be standing for .

The new Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commisonner is....the person being investigated by Devon and Cornwall Constabulary for (alleged) electoral fraud!

I know the job title does have 'Crime Commisonner' in it, but this is beyond parody at this point.

Who needs laws against granny farming when they shepherd themselves....?

Crumbs of comfort hardly comes into it. Edinburgh Central going to the Scottish Tory leader was the one worth talking about, and what Labour should be focussing on.

Never understood how Labour did so well under Blair. Who were the Labour supporters voting for, if it wasn't true to Labour's values?

I'm not talking about his first victory but all the subsequent ones. I never voted for him and so glad I didn't. He didn't do it for me but I didn't know that to start with.

At this first election, both him and Thr Tories said they would cut tax. The Lib Dems said they would put income tax up by 1p. As I felt all parties would need to raise tax, I felt the Tories and Labour were saying they wouldn't when after the election they would. Whereas the Lib Dems were being honest. So they got my vote.

I didn't understand enough about politics to be certain on other issues at the time.

Tony Blair put me off Labour and they haven't convinced me since. In 2010 I wanted a coalition between the Tories and Lib Dems. People said to me it wouldn't happen. They couls never do it. I voted Tory as Guildford was marginal between them and the Lib Dems. Previously in national elections, I'd already voted Lib Dec. I wanted enough Tories so it couldn't be a Lib Dec / Labour coalition.

I got my wish. At the next national election I voted Tory as I like Anne Milton, my MP. I'd have liked another coalition but it wasn't to be. Not enough others agreed with me.

OK, strong leadership would be a good start along with more effective performances during PMQ's. A strong command of economic basics would also be useful as opposed to leading us towards hyper inflation. Telling Mr Livingstone to shut up or expect to be expelled from the party would also help to demonstrate that he had strong leadership. Coming across as someone who Middle England might want to vote for wouldn't be a bad thing, as opposed to surrounding yourself with "right on" students who haven't got a clue about life. And yes I support the renewal of Trident, in terms of building the boats but not using them show's that Mr Corbyn is weak. The position in Scotland has got worse and yet all Mr Corbyn can say is we're with you! Making an effort to control the splinter group Momentum (which indeed is busy telling me that my donations and support are no longer welcome) wouldn't be a bad idea either. And I've had enough of the Islington Set and that includes Emily Thornberry who happens to be a pal of Mr Corbyn. They simply haven't got a clue as to how to connect with the working class. What's happened in Thurrock gives you a strong indication of that.

Oh and please don't think that Sadiq Khan's wonderful victory is down to My Corbyn; if anything Sadiq has tried to distance himself from Jeremy. I'm sorry but we don't have a hope of winning the next election with our current leader and there is no sign of being able to get rid of him. You can have all the grand ideas in the world but unless you have a hope of gaining power it's all pointless.
