Just warning people that the above train is retimed 1-2 mins earlier than the normally advertised time between Plymouth and Taunton. I missed it at Exeter as a result tonight, but the voyager is right behind it, so it didn't matter to me. Back to normal on Friday. No idea why this was, probably a train planning cockup.

That does not explain why it's retimed earlier between Plymouth and Taunton. It departs Bristol TM at booked time.

Why would anyone turn up just 1 or 2 minutes before their train departs?
Every train i catch i arrive at least 15 minutes before departure.
All my years of catching the 05:43 ex Ashford to St Pancras i was in the station at 05:30.

Not when its pre-planned like this, the railways are not responsible for passengers not checking before travelling.

Its not advertised anywhere (obvious anyway) and was only published a day or two before. Naughty, we'd be in for a please explain if we planned it - its clearly poor service at best.

And of course advertised on journey planners, up to 12 weeks before. Anything short notice would warrant more publicity from GWR.

It dosen't, but it does say:

Not good enough for a wrong side failure - and the schedule was only published on 02/05. Like I said, one of my team and there would be questions to answer.

It was advertised on the GWR website in a PDF which says it was produced in February. Suggesting it was planned well in advance. Obviously as it was published on 02/05, seems like they were hoping to brush it under the carpet - hoping no one would notice the change.

If walking to the station and already holding a ticket, why would they not? Travel on foot is extremely predictable time-wise.

I agree. If last trains are departing early, I would expect a LOT of publicity - posters, listed on JourneyCheck, TOC website, temporary PDF timetable issued, added to the Notes field on the PIS and announced on board all relevant trains for a week or two (in the manner that LM are very big on pointing out that the last train rather than bus from Euston on a Saturday is 0015, even given that this is a normal timetabled situation that has been the case for years). Or ideally just don't do it - have it arrive late at the destination instead, though I recognise this may for pathing reasons not always be possible.

It is the last train from stations between Plymouth and Tiverton Parkway to London, but from Newton Abbot to Tiverton Parkway inclusive it is possible to travel on the following XC service, and change on to the following GWR service which starts from Taunton.

The thing that gets me about it is that this midweek diversion has been in place for some weeks recently, but AFAIK this is the first time it has been retimed earlier from Plymouth.
