Question about forum icons

Look at the bottom right hand corner of this post.

You will see three icons, which, when you hover over them are 'Quote', 'Multi-Quote', and 'Quick Reply'.

Is it just me, or are the images depicting 'Multi-Quote' and 'Quick Reply' icons the wrong way around?

Looks correct on my computer. The Multiquote button is a speech bubble that should change colour when you click on it, and the Quick reply button is two speech bubbles with a plus underneath.

I'd agree with the OP's confusion: the rightmost icon, with the hover text of "Quick reply to this message", looks like a doubled-up (i.e. multi) version of the icon on the large single quote button (the button with the word "Quote" also on it).

I think the point is that, while that's clearly the choice that's been made for this forum, it's completely counter-intuitive. An image of two bubbles with a plus underneath is strongly suggestive of 'multiquote', while an image of a single bubble is somewhat suggestive of meaning 'quick reply', but the choice has apparently been made to use these icons the opposite way round.

When you click the 'multiquote' bubble, it goes orange. I think that makes sense.

Yeah, those are the two icons I see. But it does seem counter-intuitive to what they do, particularly as the 'Quote' button's icon is the same as the 'Quick Reply' button (with the green plus symbol) and it does seem counter intuitive. I also don't quite see the point of the 'Quick Reply' button as all it does is jump to the edit box at the bottom of the page, which you would normally be at anyway or at least be able to scroll to.

Anyway, it was just a thought and glad to see it's not just me!

The Multiquote button is required to change colour once it's pressed, whereas this would not be possible if the images were the other way around.

In any case, as said above, the right hand button just jumps you to the quick reply box. It doesn't actually apply to the message you are looking at.

Perhaps its mouseover text should just be "quick reply to thread"?

When in Threaded view, use of the button makes it clear that that is the post you are replying to.
