So then actually managed to see the livery at the gala and my god is that some smart livery.
Just one question what was wrong with the loco as on the final run on Sunday a nearly ended up on the floor due to some harsh and frequent braking....

I didn't see you! I was the one who frantically ran down the train to the buffet attendant who was guard, as the trainee guard didn't really want to do the emergency work on his own, but had to stay in the GLV! I thought there was a brake faliure or the like, the GLV's brake cylinder / brake pipe meters were going haywire!

Oh do stop exaggerating and making up stories for dramatic effect...

All that happens with any sort of DSD brake application is that the needle drops from 5 bar to 0 bar. It is a brake application. It is hardly a gauge "going haywire".

I was driving, so stop spinning tales. You aren't best placed to diagnose a fault from your position of expertise in a buffet car. But at least you could get a muffin.

What is all this "emergency" work you are talking about, you aren't trained or passed to carry out any safety critical duties, you aren't a driver, you aren't a guard, and you shouldn't be running around. If ever there is an emergency, you'll be looked after by people who know what they are doing and who are trained to do it, so stop trying to create a story out of an utterly mundane incident and the most minor of faults.

Why on earth did you "run frantically" down the train? What were you going to do? Put your mouth on the pipe and reinflate the brake pipe? Or just get a muffin from the buffet?

I'm not entirely sure why you were in the cab of the GLV anyway, you aren't passed to be there, and shouldn't have been in there. Please keep out of it!

Now please stop stirring the pot to make yourself sound important.

The DSD/Drivers Vigilence Device fault was rectified in the platform and the loco drove to the shed under its own power, so stop trying to invent a story, and certainly stop trying to pretend you took heroic action in some sort of "emergency". I imagine the only emergency was a shortage of cake when you got to the buffet.

What a load of tripe. You obviously don't get out much, DSD AWS or TPWS related brake applications are part of normal life on the main line, no one is thrown out of their seat, that is total nonsense.

No... there were two spurious DSD brake applications as a result of a fault with the Driver's Vigilence Device. That isn't harsh and frequent braking, and it happens on the mainline too when faults occur with DSD, AWS or TPWS. It is just part of operating life, you deal with it.

It was the end of a long weekend, and the sensible thing to do was to isolate the problem, get the train into the platform so people could get off, and then fix it there. It really isn't a big deal.

are you saying I'm not aware of what AWS, TPWS, OTMR, DSD or ATP are? I've known about them for years, what they are for, and basics of how they work. And I wasn't in the cab of the GLV, never said that. I wa sin the guard's area at the back of it. Doesn't say anything on the door about not going in there - it says 'Private - Traincrew only'. And I am traincrew.

It's okay telling me I'm breaking the rules and, yes, you were doing a good job driving going around wearing your coal sector 56097 polo shirts, but without me this weekend the railway would have made a lot less money.

And to be fair, the brake was very harsh, even if it wasn't your fault. Good job I wasn't with the trolley at the time

Be nice to each other gentlemen. Faults happen and are part and parcel with working with older stock especially when it's on it's early days after return from a lot of work being done to it.

If I was the buffet steward I wouldn't leave the takings unattended to run off to the guards van though!

I would hope the trainee guard wasn't left in sole charge of the train while the actual guard was selling stuff in the buffet car though, that sounds rather unprofessional to me!

The loco developed a fault with the drivers vigilance system. We couldn't get it to cancel, the consequence being that the brake pipe is dumped and the brakes are fully applied. It is an important safety system, hence the "harsh braking".

Don't forget it's a 56, so all part of the experience

Thanks to all for attending and supporting the event, hope you enjoyed yourselves.

Ah right well no worries it made the journey interesting and btw the driver on that last sunday run definitely known how to put on a show I didn't really like grids that much before this but I have been won over.

Brandon

As if there wasn't enough to worry about in the world at the moment. First the collapse of the banking system, now this.

Well, I was only providing a point, that trains could last forever if you don't try and pull down workers over a little joke!!

Miles was making a mountain out of a molehill. Making the driver (and other such staff) look, I don't know? Stupid maybe?

If what Miles was saying was just lies, then 56097 has every right to correct him.

Mr morley GCRN does not own 56097 so its in safe hands of its owner and crew and not yours!! also I noticed you walking round the yard saturday afternoon with a orange high viz on but are you a member? If you where with a member of staff why were you not asked to sign in we know your there once your signed in!!
if you are a member were's your safety boots its a working yard you walked in a workshop area with milling machines and lathes and heavy materials.
unauthorised people wandering round without signing in could be hurt or killed, staff would not have a clue that you could be somewhere in the yard hurt or worse dead and the out come for the railway at worst is not worth thinking about.
Safety notices are there for you to read not to abuse health and safety at work its there to save lives!!!!!!

May I just say sorry, I've been like a t*** for a bit, so I am Sorry to who I offended.
Thanks Mojo, offending posts removed. Sorry for taking my anger out on the owner of 56097, I was felling a little grumpy again.
My Dearest Apologies,
Brandon
