Hi all, long-time lurker but first-time poster on this forum. I hope this is the right place for this message, maybe the admins can move it if not.

I'm currently running a blog on the old Malvern-Aschurch Midland/LMS branch line at www.malvernrailway.co.uk and have just completed a video showing a walk along the first part of the old route. I thought this might be of interest to you guys, the video can be found here:

Hello again, a few more for you. Parts Three and Four have been made using my new camera, so be sure to crank the quality up to 1080p for the best experience.

Interesting video.
My house used to back onto the Midland line in Great Malvern, with views of the (live) GW route further away and uphill.
The bottom strip of our garden was rented from BR in Bristol, so they were still collecting income from the line in the mid-1970s.
I don't know if any of it is still in railway ownership.
Most of it looks pretty clear, so it must be maintained.
Looks like a reasonable path to the Show Ground, though it could be a nice bridle/bike route - something I would have thought the Malvernites would be keen on!

Hi LNW, glad you liked the video.

Did you live on St Andrew's Road? From what I've heard the railway filled in the cutting across the Common and sold the land to the adjacent houses there in the 70s. Some houses went for it and some didn't, so the whole thing has a bit of a higgeldy-piggeldy look now. If you look on Google maps you can see clearly where the curve of the old line was, and which houses bought the extra land and which not. On my Part I video, I had to walk next to the old line on the latter section before heading into County Builders. The section at the beginning of the common is on top of the old line.

The public footpath down from Peachfield takes you as far as the derelict railway bridge next to Worcestershire Golf Course. After that you have to walk across the Golf Course and next to the railway line rather than on top of it.

Yes, it was St Andrews Road.
We moved just before the sale option came up I think, but I was in the area till 1985.
Nothing much seems to have changed since!
Plenty of trains still turning round in the loop at Malvern Wells.

Yes, I'll be doing some filming up there soon. The turning loop for services terminating at Great Malvern can sometimes create the impression that the Wells GWR station is still in use, which is neat.

I don't suppose you have any photos of the old Midland line on the common by any chance?
