Neither of the above, and I'm not quite sure where Luton came from as I had already said in #31643 that the guesses so far had all been on the correct route...:)
You can't expect us to read all these posts can you :P? Luton used to have a centre siding between the fast lines I believe and the northbound fast line platform is staggered.

It wasn't that much of a stretch.

Not Welwyn Garden City.

I am slightly but pleasantly surprised it has lasted this long without being identified. First clue this evening if nobody has it by then.

Can't be Ally Pally, the platform is single sided there, not double and the line round the back is only a headshunt to BN, not accessible from the ECML from the North.

edit - take it back (the second bit), you can get to it if you come down the Hertford loop.

Not Leicester is it?

If that's the free railtour that was provided as compensation by BR for monumentally screwing up one of the Coalville Cobbler railtours? ( The compensatory charter was also monumentally screwed up... )

The canopies suggest to me that it isn't in the North

Tyseley?

The canopy style is a bit of a clue, being typical of the region (or should I say big 4 company), but it isn't Tyseley (or Leicester)
And it wasn't a railtour, it's an ordinary service train.

If someone other than Track Basher has picture and would like to take the floor, I am sure that would be fine. :)
