Last nights ep is still not on the iplayer and nothing to say it will be on either as yet an explanation from the beeb would be nice as to why they axed it
Write a strongly worded letter, that'll do it.

No reason given - really poor IMHO.

They usually reschedule because they think something in a program will upset delicate folk because of something newsworthy which has just happened, but I can't find reference to anything in the news which might relate to a railway journey!

I think it was the yesterday's news that the killer of Milly Dowler had finally admitted that he had killed her. Milly disappeared shortly after leaving Walton on Thames station. I believe the station featured in the episode.

The BBC said the episode was pulled "for editorial reasons". They obviously employ people to write these non-answers. I see it's being broadcast tonight, then two tomorrow to catch up so we don't miss anything.

The clash with National Holocaust Day seems most likely, seeing that the programme included a visit to the crematorium at Brookwood. But surely this could have been foreseen some time ago.

Given the immediacy of it, this seems like the likely reason, to be honest

having now watched the programme, it would clearly have been insensitive to put this out on National Holocaust Day. Perhaps others will agree that this is the reason for postponing it.

If that is the case, then it's pretty (or other word!) poor planning on the broadcasters part!

Except seemingly no-one foresaw it.

Any thoughts on this, then?

Why not try to create our own journeys, then?

Hebden Bridge to North Berwick
Episode 1: Hebden Bridge to Whalley

Michael begins his journey in Hebden Bridge. Travelling east, he traverses the Todmorden Curve, before detouring to Ramsbottom to witness a famous festival. Heading north, the leg ends at the famous abbey at Whalley.

Episode 2: Clitheroe to Kendal

Starting in Lancashire, Michael travels between the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland, passing Settle and Bentham and the small town of Ingleton. He detours northwards to the book town of Sedbergh and finishes his leg at Sizergh Castle.

Episode 3: Cartmel to Whitehaven

In the southern Lakeland Fells, Michael finds out about a famous pudding. He finds out about the industry of Barrow before heading into Wasdale. He also goes to the St Bees coast, and explores the smuggling history of Whitehaven.

Episode 4: Maryport to Uddingston

Michael founds out about Maryport's roman history before skirting the Solway Firth. After making a brief stop in Annan, he heads to Beattock, where he looks around Moffat and discovers the literary side of the railway network. The leg finishes at the Tunnocks factory at Uddingston, where teacakes are made.

Episode 5: Biggar to North Berwick

Michael travels through the Scottish Borders, starting at Biggar in Lanarkshire. After passing through Peebles, he travels on the newly reopened Borders Railway, stopping off at the Mining Museum at Newtongrange. The leg ends at North Berwick, and Michael travels onwards via boat to Bass Rock.

Viewers in Wales did not see the second episode last night due to BBC2 Wales transmitting already arranged Live Rugby at 1900.

Fun fact: Only four journeys on GBRJ have featured Wales. I'm going to have a go at making my own.

Episode 1: Fishguard to Carmarthen
Episode 2: Kidwelly to Llandovery
Episode 3: Llanwrtyd to Church Stretton
Episode 4: Chirk to Flint
Episode 5: Abergele to Betws-y-Coed

The legs are much shorter (and therefore more accurate) this time, but I'm not sure what Pinky P would do in-between the start/end points. He might go bog snorkelling at Llanwrtyd, or visit Kidwelly Castle, however.

Anyone else want to try making their own journeys?

There's a series starting Monday 22nd starting in Ayr. Is it new or a repeat?
Tonight on Yesterday there's a programme from Ayr to Paisley. Tomorrow on BBC2 it's Ayr to Stewarton.
