The hidden Metrolink timetables have moved

Traveline North West used to give you Metrolink timetables when you searched for bus timetables with service numbers starting with the prefix 'MET' e.g. MET1. These appeared to have gone from Traveline but they can still be found simply using the letter on the route map: http://www.metrolink.co.uk/stationinfo/Documents/Route_Map.pdf e.g. A gets you the timetable for Altrincham to Eithad Campus.

the idea is that it helps colourblind individuals. I myself cannot stand this map (its been around for around 6 months now), instead i think we should go for a similar system as the London Underground. where the lines are colour coded and visible much more easier on the map. give them names and include the names in station announcements.

That might be the idea, but having coloured blocks to try and follow with letters makes it less useful for colour blind people, and by the looks of it, down right impossible for anyone with a form of dyslexia or dispraxia to understand, as you can't follow a route. Nor of course, the service patterns.

The same feed is listed in Microsoft Mobile's/Nokia's 'HERE' suite of map & direction apps. Previously listed as 'MET5' etc. and now "C (East Didsbury - Bury)" and so on.

They even manage to preserve the colour-coding into the app's interface which is a nice touch (same with LU).

I see a lot of this. Decent accessibility guidelines state that you shouldn't rely *solely* on colour to identify a category - not that you have to avoid it altogether.

While hindering everyone else? Yeah, great idea. It's terrible.

A Tube style map is better - if you don't merge the lines you can still just about follow it in monochrome.

There's also a black and white (patterned) tube map available from all staffed stations and online for LUL.
