Over 2 months later, and still just a big empty space where the travel centre used to be. With a temporary wooden structure obstructing the footpath.

So... I know this may well have been asked elsewhere, but I haven't seen it having read through this thread.

I personally used to visit Crewe around once a month to stand around and freeze at the end of the platforms (ie take photos, get loco numbers etc) - and Virgin have signs up in Crewe station stating that Enthusiasts are welcome on the station.

I used to get them from up on the old concrete footbridge that led to the carpark - but last time I visited Crewe in early September, they had fenced this off (again)

Given there are now barriers in place, have they started to sell platform tickets? Or just blocked anyone who isn't on a journey/wanting to use the cash machine/seeing someone onto a train etc?

I believe the bridge you're referring to has now been demolished.

There are still loads of enthusiasts at the end of the platforms, so as blindtraveller says just ask and you'll probably be let through. I saw someone ask and get let through the other day, and it just looked like they had to sign a visitors' book or something.

And I was allowed onto the platform a couple of weeks ago without a ticket to help my mother with her bags.

The wooden structure is protecting two new cash machines, which will be paticularly badly located as that is where people queue for taxis. The machines were installed weeks ago, not sure why the hoarding is still there.

Thank you for your information, I shall ask at the barriers next time I end up there, then.

As I bought my ticket this morning two coms guys arrived requesting access to the new cash machine room. The Virgin staff were as shocked as me.
Maybe they will be working before the station is rebuilt/relocated.
But still no occupier for the new retail unit.
