Or, as Sir Humphrey would say,

"The initial subject discussion, that of the said piece of railway infrastructure for which the subject was opened with, has diverged completely from the matter at hand and instead of questioning when an additional set of railway tracks could be put, has now turned into the discussion of possible ways to destroy the piece of railway infrastructure - the said piece being the opening words in this forum of debate"

Stop it stop it. You might have blown my mine(d) :p.

Not anymore because we don't have any VTOL jet fighters but it would be perfectly possible if we had some.

Our brilliant laughingly called Coalition Government sold off all our Harriers both RAF and Navy types to the Yanks for a knock down price after spending £millions refitting them to last another 10 years just to save a few million quid.

What did the Yanks do? Broke them up for spares and then sold us their version for £billions for carriers we do not have and will not have until 2021 at the earliest.

Many aircraft museums have been denied the chance of buying a surplus Harrier at scrap prices as non are left.

Not sure a 230 could get anywhere propelled by Ford Transit engines.

You seem to either unaware or deliberately ignoring that there is rather a large UK input to the F-35.

I think the original discussion has run its course (though, as always, if anyone has anything significant to add, please contact us).

I do not wish to stifle debate on the numerous other topics that have been discussed in this thread but can I please ask that a new thread (in an appropriate area of the forum) is created to discuss each of these please?

I fear we may have been diverted from the purpose of this thread - perhaps a Mod can split it off
Can I ask that messages to moderators never be made in a thread. Instead use the report button (
report.gif
).

Splitting a thread is very time consuming if there are many posts to split. If you wish to make such a suggestion please include in your report a suitable thread title (for the new thread) and list of posts which should be split into that thread. (and if that's too difficult, then that answers the question as to whether or not splitting the thread is viable ;))
