87002 'Royal Sovereign' - multiple working receptacles queston

As it appears 87002 is back in service (although still owned by the AC Electric Group I believe), I have noticed along with it's new Caledonian Sleeper livery that the multiple working receptacles that came with the locomotive when it was new to traffic in 1973 have been refitted.

Does anyone know when they were refitted as (feel free to correct me) I understand that these were removed from the 87's, as well as on the 86/4's and 86/6's during the early 1990's, as they were replaced by TDM and also the fact that the 87's have been working virtually exclusively on passenger services from them until retirement in 2006.

Great shot, I think the livery really suits her, was just looking at a slide I took of her at Manchester Picc. in the summer of 1973 when brand new, stood at the head of a rake of (equally new) mk2d stock awaiting departure for Euston, now that's a proper Intercity train!

Seems a bit strange then that 86401 did get the multiple working receptacle fitted, although it wasn't built with them as standard like 87002.

86001 was fitted with the jumper boxes and cables, and it's carried them as 86401 of course

Back in the UK I do have one that I will try and dig out taken in early 1974. I remember it like yesterday when they came into traffic - and came through Preston. My last one was 87032 for sight and my last one for haulage was 87026.

I was referring to when it originally entered service as E3199.

As far as I know, no 86s were built with multiple working cables, just as none of them were built with Zebedee suspension.

I think the multi started being fitted to the 86/0s in the late 1970s and carried on into the 1980s when some 86/0s had been renumbered to 86/3 on fitment of resilient wheelsets.
