I wish to travel from Bangor to London on Friday 19/2/16 departing sometime between 1000 and 1500. I then wish to return on Monday 22/2/16 departing after 1100 and before 1300. Happy to go into/out of any London terminal.

The most obvious fare is a Super Off-Peak Return at £69.00 shown in BR Fares enabling me (I presume) to travel via Shrewsbury and Birmingham into Marylebone.

However I cannot get a TOC web site to give me that fare, having tried Virgin WC & EC and even Chiltern who price that fare. Even specifying 'avoid Euston' or 'travel via High Wycombe' does not produce that fare.

Advice would be appreciated. Splits do not seem to produce much on that route.

Happy to use loop hole tickets so if anyone has a good one for this then great !

It shows OK for me on the Chiltern site when I specify via High Wycombe. If you want to go to Euston, there are good savings to be had by splitting at Llanfairfechan and Crewe.

The time penalty is quite severe compared to the off peak from Bangor via VT. your adding 2 hours plus each way going via Shrewsbury and changing station in Birmingham.

Thanks folks !

Just spotted that Chester to Crewe SVR @ £16.10 can be done for 40p less by purchasing Chester to Alsager or Kidsgrove priced by EMT @ £15.70 for a SVR.

EMT also have some useful day return fares between Derby/Nottingham and many North Wales Coast stations: a legacy of daytripping holiday-makers.
