Trying to help a friend get to Lime St before 1pm on Saturday with a 16-25 railcard. I can't seem to beat £15.85, I know sometimes £11 tickets pop up- any body able to help?

Many Thanks

£7.90 on the 0520 arrive 0831, or £13.20 on the 0640 arrive 0931. Both of these are through trains (East Midlands Trains). Otherwise, £19.15 for pre-1pm arrival.

Edit: except on the 0520, there's a little bit to be saved by buying separate Nottingham-Sheffield and Sheffield-Liverpool Advances for whichever through EMT train your friend prefers.

If your friend is happy to change trains, splitting again at Manchester may save even more. Don't forget to look at Man Vic to Lime Street, too.

Changing train is fine! Been told she can get there for half 4 at the latest to save a few quid!

In that case, without even longer waits it might be hard to beat:

Nottingham 1147 - Sheffield 1237: £4.30

Sheffield 1311 - Manchester Piccadilly 1403: £5.30

Manchester Piccadilly 1455 - Liverpool Lime St 1544: £2

Total: £11.60

All these fares include a 16-25 railcard discount, and are "Advance" fares valid only on the trains specified at the time of booking

Book the TPE one on TPE's own website to get 50% off instead of 34%.

Cheers for that! No more discount for using the TPE site but it's not a major problem.

Also the 11:47 NOT-SHF is £5.30 or £4.95 walk up single?

Booked the other two anyway!

Many thanks

At that price I don't think it's a walk-on fare.

You do save £1 (70p with Railcard) if you book an EMT Advance on the EMT website.

Are you sure you clicked through the link for Student offers on the TPE website?

I agree. A discounted Advance on some earlier/later trains is only £4.95, so some journey planners will have a headline of "£4.95 to £5.30", but currently the cheapest discounted Nottingham-Sheffield ticket on the 1147 on Saturday is £ 5.30.
