Slam door toilets!

Just visited the facilities on an East Midlands Manchester to Liverpool train (sorry don't know what Class ), pressed the Open button when I'd finished and the door crawled open, stopped to put something in the litter bin and the door slammed shut, hitting my shoulder and giving me quite a fright.

That'll be a class 158, many of them do that! (on EMT, can't speak for anyone elses)

Are the 158 large loos compliant with 2020 regs or will these need replacing? If replacement then its the one class of unit where they woant masively impact seating.

If the 159 refurbishment is anything to go by (159102/103 so far) then the large loo area remains, just slightly smaller toilet bowls themselves.

Don't know for sure, but I can't see it being compliant - it isn't all that large an area

The space is probably big enough for a compliant toilet but I'm sure some feature of the existing ones is going to be non-compliant with 2020 regs. If nothing else I believe EMT 158s still discharge onto the track.

The doors are a bit random. Often if they don't close or open fully a good shove will help.

I think quite a few of the 158's still discharge onto the track.

Saying the doors on them are a bit random is putting it kindly - they are rubbish!

Have they always been this bad? This maybe a question for those working or riding them when new.

I think Scotrails mostly have tankage now, unsure about the X Wesex/SWT/ATW ones
