Would anyone know the start or finish points of this particular journey???

Definitely a NR one, given that it said Network Rail on the side and was yellow

Did it have a for sale sign on it?
Maybe somebody bought an old one, painted it yellow and is trying to flog it on Ebay! ;)

It's been at Old Oak since before christmas. It was taken there for tyre turning and has been sitting waiting collection since. It also looks to have been recently overhauled.

Not sure where it was going though.

Well, part of the NMT was in Heaton yesterday, and at least one of it's powercars was in Craigentinny.

I managed to get a close look at a NR inspection train at Banbury on Saturday. This one consisted of mostly Mk II vehicles led by a driving car and had a 37 (057?) propelling on the rear. They did a driver change on plat 2 so I had a nosey through the windows, fascinating stuff. What does this particular train do?

There are a few different test trains that do different things. I'd love to know more about them.

One for example is a structure gauging train. The NMT measures the rails in various ways I think.
