Did the WAG from Chester to Cardiff this morning for the first time. Only ever done bus stop moves before. I'm tight

Boarded at 07:14 and got the gen that we were going via Crewe, which turned into a farce as the doors were released but station staff werent made aware of the call! (My decision to yell a few choice words out of the window at a veg known on here as 350405 turned out to be a bad one! (He was travelling to Cardiff but his ex Manchester was caped at CRE. The platform staff felt sorry for him and let him on!:mad
What a jammy b*stard!!
When did the WAG last run via Crewe? (Aside from when bodysnatchers took it of course) The basher we were chatting to all the way down to Cardiff didnt think it had happened and was ready to bail at Nantwich if the doors were released)
The train was extremely lightly loaded, although thats probably down to the time of year really.
I had the small breakfast, which for £5.99 was VERY good value! I asked for no tomatoes or mushrooms so they gave me extra bacon instead )
The express nature of the southbound service plus the excellent quality of the catering has made me realise ive had my last unit to Cardiff from Chester/Manchester!
There must be excptionally few services that still have a full kitchen onboard though, and especially selling food to standard class passengers? Do GWR still have the travelling chef serving proper food? Ie not microwaved.
The guard on the 175 home was telling about when she was in training, being able to catch the fastest service to Cardiff from Chester and enjoy the bacon butties onboard! (A world away from the 175...) The WAG was definately a highlight of the year, especially with the diversion. I'd do it again in a heartbeat! Although we missed the Rhymney connection so should get Delay repay so who knows.....
