Hi all,

Is it possible to buy a Senior Railcard from a station and use it immediately?

Many thanks.

This is also useful if you have already bought a ticket and subsequently find that you've misplaced your railcard.

As I did just over a year ago - just after reading a thread about how the TOC concerned was enforcing the rule about having the railcard with you! Took max 2 minutes at Shipley in the morning peak. And yes, I found the original at home...

I think you'll need to take proof of your date of birth with you.

Only for first issue. Any subsequent issues at a ticket office only requires the photocard.

Yes, you are correct. I blame it on an exceptionally long week.

What I meant was subsequent issues only require the expired Railcard. No need to bring other proofs.

Unless of course you are 'replacing' a 'lost' railcard ;)
