I thought that this was going to be one of those humorous threads where we post funny situations which give away the fact we post on here, for example, suggesting the 442s as a solution to *any* problem:

Housing shortage: 442 cars refurbished with beds and kitchens and parked in a field
Lack of children's playground equipment: Various 442 parts removed and placed on astroturf

etc

Well, why can't it be?

There's been a great conversion in the Robin Hood's Bay area (Hawsker, to be precise) of a mark 3 restaurant car into high quality, air conditioned holiday accommodation. It's basically like a great big (75 foot) static caravan. So, you know, I'm sure we could find a similar use for 442 vehicles. ;)

What about a 442 shortage? ;)

One could be using three letter station codes in the spoken word - "I need to collect my tickets from BHM"

Can't you turn off autocorrect ? I have on my computer because it created more problems than it solved. Now, any typos are usually due to me hitting the wrong key on the keyboard, or to not hitting the key hard enough.

That's good, I thought the S&C was getting the redundant 91's and shortened MKIV ranks ...

No, they are going onto the GEML to supplement the released 373 rakes.

What makes this more silly is so far I have drawn only from posts I've seen here...

In all seriousness; "Wibble of the Month" award has to go to the Class 373 "Life after Eurostar" discussion...

To be fair, I'm surprised the OP didn't come under an even greater barrage of fire after making the suggestion, it ticks so many RailUK boxes it's ridiculous... XC services from Brighton, trying to get more use out of life expired trains, trying to run more trains where no capacity, will or finance exists to do so etc etc

Imagine the chaos that would have ensued had he proposed using 442s between Brighton and Basingstoke, where an 88 would attach and haul it to Manchester, hence solving the Voyager 'problem' as well...

Getting told off for calling members by their names before the change means I am on here too much lol.

I believe the coaches at Dawlish Warren are falling apart and going to be scrapped in the not too distant....

I don't think I post too much on here, but I think everyone else does.
It takes that long to catch up, I have to stop work to keep up.

it's all the fault of those 142s though, isn't it?;)

Cheeky bugger, ain't you...?

I admit I have spent too much time here because I have seen train situations and wondered what other users would think. Mind you, I spend too much time bantering with Northern as I now ID trains not by journey but Headcode

A sign you read the General Discussion forum too often:

When you see shark attacks covered in the papers, you tell yourself you've misread “shack” again...

When your post is removed because you mentioned 442s... :P

(Well they did have right to remove it I suppose)
