Accessing Rail Forums on Mobile

Firstly apologies if there is a thread on this already or if I have posted this in the wrong section (mods please feel free to move or merge this as is appropriate).

Has anyone had any issues accessing the site of any platform where they are being redirected by spam. Accessed earlier this evening off my Android Tablet but as I have tried to access it now from my iPhone it is redirecting me to a gaming site. There are no other issues with any other sites including SSC but I cant rule out the issue being with my IPhone. I have clear history and cookies but it still persists. Any guidance would be graciously received.

No probs for me tonight on iPad or iPhone. Have you blocked cookies except current site and enabled "do not track"? Don't know if that will make the slightest difference but might be worth a try.

I have tried it again this morning and the xfaxtor seems to be weather I access the site via mobile data or my home wireless network. When my iPhone accesses it via its 4g data (on EE) it's comes up with spam but the home network (on Sky) doesn't. It doesn't appear it's the website then rather my own network connection or something on my phone.

I'm getting redirected to adverts. It's only this site, only on my iPhone, only when using mobile data (I'm on 3). Interestingly, it works fine on wifi and it also works fine if I turn my browser (safari) to private browsing mode. Quite odd.

Thank you, you're a genius! I've been plagued with this for a few days now, having had the same problem a couple of months ago which eventually sorted itself out. I've just changed to Private browsing on my iPhone 5S and it works! A slight nuisance having to input username and password each time, as I assume ticking "remember me" will negate the access improvement?

It's so frustrating not being able to access the forums when out and about. Today I was desperately trying to find out the latest on the ATW strike, as ATW's own website is not as helpful as this one, but had to wait until I got home and went on the Macbook (which hasn't had the problem).

The SPAM I was getting was being redirected to random Apps in the App Store. I wish whoever is causing this would desist .

I had this problem frequently on my Blackberry Q10 until I sold it a couple of weeks ago. The ad would fill the screen so you couldn't scroll away from it without clicking on it! Very annoying. I suspect it'll affect devices with smaller screens more? Not had the problem on my new Moto G3, using firefox.

That thread reported a similar problem.
This is the only site that I have this problem with. Ended up downloading a java script / ad blocker off the App Store and added only this site to it.

Works great.

From speaking today to someone in our IT team at work it may be a combination of the tracking cookies already mentioned and Google ads. None of this is controlled by or the fault of the site. For what it is worth mine has decided to stop redirecting me now and I have done nothing to change any settings on my phone.d

Very frustrating. Accessing the forum via my iPhone 5 running ios 7.03, connected to the internet via a 3 Sim, if that matters. Browsing normally on Safari I am redirected to spam/the app store/clickbait crap every single time I open railforums. Clearing cache/cookies/website data didn't help. But turning on private browsing solved the problem. It doesn't happen when accessing the forum from Germany, but it does when in the UK, so rather odd.

iPhone 5 running [not even the final update for] iOS 7..? I'd seriously suggest checking your software updates.

I'm on iOS 9.1 and have the same problem. It isn't user software it's the adverts this website are displaying.

I'm well aware I could update the software but I had a play around with ios 9 on a friend's phone and the new aesthetics weren't to my taste. Besides, I haven't got the storage available for the update

Different I know but I have had to give up using Internet Explorer to access this site unless I use private browsing. Script errors flash up faster than I can close the window! This is the latest incarnation of Windows 10 and associated IE. Firefox isn't perfect unless in private. (WNXX forum has typically one error per page on IE)

I'm just pointing out that iOS 7 is close to vintage now...

I'm well aware I could update the software but I had a play around with ios 9 on a friend's phone and the new aesthetics weren't to my taste. Besides, I haven't got the storage available for the update

The major UI change was in iOS 7. Only changes I've seen since have been an improvement.

On the plus side, any future updates will delete your little-used apps temporarily in order to install

Vintage for something that's just over two years old Considering a lot of people and companies still use Windows XP.

There's a few UI changes between 7 and 9. Personally I'm not a fan of the new app change screen.

I'm still using Windows XP at work and Windows 8.1. By this time next year I'm hoping I will not be using XP any more but migrations take time.

Outside of work some of my stuff is more modern but not all of it. My main laptop is still running Mountain Lion.

In the past, people higher up in large organisations or those in charge of funding large organisations, took the view that people could make do with what they had. Their stalling led to a ticking time bomb so to speak and now it's being dealt with. Unfortunately it takes time to migrate large organisations and check applications. Some might not even be supported out of the box in newer Windows and need work done to make them so.

The government paid a million pounds for the XP support to be extended for an additional year across local government. That support ended in April.

I'd be surprised if I was still regularly using XP by this time next year but who knows.
