Got my rejection yesterday(

What are they looking for? having I've already passed assessments with enhanced scores.

I'm very disappointed with their "Careful consideration"!! and also living local to NXG.

It has been said before but here I go again...

The fact that you passed assessments makes no difference at the application stage. Simply there were people who better demonstrated the qualities the company asked you to demonstrate at this stage.

It seems that a lot of people expect to get through initial sift just because they've done assessments.
This isn't aimed at you in particular but I'll even risk saying that a lot don't put the same effort into the application form as before.

48 lines of the 101 line roster have a saturday RD with most being friday saturday off.



60mph between edmonton green and cheshunt on the southbury line.

If when going to ilford Im routed on the mainline which has a top speed of 70 rising to 90 on the other side of Maryland I like to shake the cobwebs off

Not quite, but almost every other Saturday off which is really good. Very tempted!

Funnily enough even though it's a "slow route" it always felt much quicker rattling along in a 315 with the cab window down in the summer than when im doing 125mph in a pendolino.

We were on 44k + London weighting under greater anglia. Now under LOROL dead on 50k with no london weighting.

Thanks for that info. I saw on the ASLEF site the following: "Current Pay:
From 31 May 2015 increase to £50,000 which incorporates a consolidation of the location allowance. From 1 April 2016 increase to basic pay in line with the LOROL 2016 April pay review. Min £51,125"

I presume now, that it applies to Chingford, as the 'Original' Overground (Willesden Junction , Watford Junction, New Cross Gate, Euston [and it's satellite Stratford] are on circa£54k with different conditions. I did wonder why the information for London Overground showed a lower salary than previously, but it seems the details for Chingford (formerly West Anglia) have been input even though it says "formerly Silverlink Metro" and the pay details for that part have been deleted.

In theory you should not have to sit assessment as yours is valid for 5 years. Gtr is one of the highest pass marks and you do more than what is required by dft.
You should be on the national database which is what lorol would check.
Personally I would give lorol recruitment a call.
Lorol should not contact gtr as you don't work for them.

How long do Lorol hold passes for. I know FGW and gtr are 3 years but I'm not sure about lorol

Now i have been asked by one train company to come and attend a assessment day and the other one has asked me to do it online.

My worry is, can i try for both the companies at the same time????

I take it the companies in question is this one and MTR, well here don't do as many tests as MTR but a couple that MTR do online, LOROL will do at the stage 2 part of the assessment day

The OPC will flag up to whichever company comes second that you have already sat the tests in the last six months and won't be able to resit them.

just did my stage 3 and to be honest I don't feel so confident about the last part. I think I got to used to the way the primary task was going and so I focused on the secondary then when it started switching up I made quite a few errors. Fingers crossed though good luck to anyone hat hasn't done it! Thanks for all the advice!

does anyone know if Lorol use a score system like abellio or any other train firm if not how do they decide?

"Close proximity to depot" is vague, anyone know what the cut off is distance/travel time wise?

The general rule of thumb is that you can live anywhere provided you can get to the depot from your home within about 45 mins. The reason for this is that the TOC has to take into account driver fatigue. If you have to drive an hour and a half to get to work you could be too tired to be considered safe by the end of your driving shift, and that is obviously too much of a safety risk for them to take.
To the best of my knowledge the actual distance isn't the issue, its how long you have to travel to get in for work. Most TOCs seem to have the cut off around the 45 min mark, but that may well vary a little from TOC to TOC.

I have been invited to 2 assessments next week Mon and Wed for the 2 trainee positions (NX and Chingford). My question is whether its wise to contact HR and go to one only or can I sit both and take my chances?

They made a mistake and should only invite you to one. It's only at the driver manager interview you choose which depot you want. Contact them for them to rectify it.
