Trains in St. Pancras

Someone mentioned that other foreign trains ran to London like Italian and Spain rail. But I can't find any research on that. I was just wondering if that has happened.I know DB ran demo trains for an upcoming U.K to Germany, but never something time to time like Italy etc..

Is it possible that someone has confused freight with passenger trains as there are/were possibly through freight workings from Italy and Spain? seem to recall there was produce conveyed by DBS from a location in Spain to Widnes some time ago, and at one time an intermodal train operated between Manchester and Milan, don't know what the current situation is though.

As the only realistic way to get a train from Germany or Italy into this country is via the Channel Tunnel, and Eurotunnel will not play ball with any passenger operator other than Eurostar, it would appear exceedingly unlikely that one's going to suddenly show up at St Pancras (but see the Dreams thread in the General Discussion forum!)

That's probably the explanation of this question. The famous Ford train runs to and from Spain, and there have been EWS/ECR trains from Wembley to and from Italy. But of course freight trains are less obviously visible as 'trains from XX country' than passenger trains are. The key point is that such freight trains would not visit St Pancras.

Eurotunnel were happy to play ball with DB. Unfortunately SNCF was less happy to play ball with Siemens to get the Velaro D certified for operation in France. That may now be done but the whole project is running late.

Let's see if SNCF is any more helpful now TrenItalia has stated their intention to run ETR1000s between Paris and Brussels. Maybe one of those will reach London.
