Briery Bobbin Mill Halt was a relatively short lived halt on the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway. It was opened sometime in 1922 and closed on 15th November 1958. I feel that before that halt was opened, there was a private siding in this location that was opened much earlier in 1891.

Highgate Halt was also opened on this railway on 17th August 1908 and closed sometime in December 1928.

Can someone confirm which were the two stations on that line that these halts lay between and if they were only used by workers and not in any timetabled service.

Highgate Halt was approximately mid-way between Troutbeck and Threlkeld(a long section of some 44 miles) Briery Bobbin Mill Halt was just a mile short of Keswick coming from the Threlkeld direction. Hope this helps.

Briery bobbin mill halt is still there (more or less) it's just outside Keswick (between Keswick and Threlkeld) where the low Briery holiday park is. There are some historical information signs there that might provide you with more information, but I don't remember what they say. I'll try to remember to take a look next time I'm passing.

I don't know about Highgate halt, but I do know that it's a lot less than 44 miles between Troutbeck and Threlkeld (44 miles is more like the total distance between Penrith and Workington).

That should read 4 miles (heavy handed on the keys )
