Hi All,

this is my first post.

The last time I went bashing around Britian was in 1996.

I am looking for scheduled loco hauled services that I can move for this summer?

Can anyone post a list of services in England that are curently running... there can't be many??

Many thanks in advance

Ross

PS I couple of pics from the real days of spoon magic... enjoy!!

There are the Yarmouth Drags on summer Saturdays, (if they still run). The trains run from Norwich to Great Yarmouth using a class 47 plus the 90+MK3's+DVT train.

Sorry, but I am unaware of the timings.

There's the Wrexham & Shropshire services that run between London Marylebone and Wrexham. The stock currently used is a 2x class 67 top and tailing 3 or 4 hired in Blue & Grey MK3 coaches. However this will change when WSMR's own stock is ready for use which includes MK3 DVTs, eliminating the use of a 67. Times of these WSMR working can be found here

I believe there are also 67 hauled services down the West somewhere. Think they run through Bath....

Bristol Temple Meads to Weymouth I believe, I have no idea on times for them though, but it's 2x 67s top and tailing around five MK2s. Only operates during the Summer months I believe.

There is also a Summer Saturdays 47 hauled train from Nottingham to Skegness and back (approx 1030 from Nottingham and 1430 from Skegness (very rough timings!), although sadly it didn't run last Saturday.

1G21 - 1651 Euston to Birmingham New street is a 90 + 9mk3s and a DVT whilst the pendo is OOS. As seen below (click the thumbnail for a larger shot)

National Express East Anglia - Operate loco hauled sets up to Norwich and back for their mainline fleet which are 90 + mk3 + DVT. As seen below (click the thumbnail for a larger shot)

Also you then have the First Scot Rail Sleeper service which runs from London Euston to Scotland using a 90 up to Edinburgh when the various different sleeper trains are taken off by class 67s.

1021 from Nottingham, 1430 from Skegness return, so not bad guesses there :)

buy a copy of Augusts Todays Railways, there is an article containing loco-hauled diagrams.

Here's a few more pics from your part of the world...

The grey beastie 37191... my top mileage tractor... at Maiden Newton on a perfect lazy summer's day.

37 242+072 on wagons at Westbury in 1988.

73 005 on the Friday only {obvious if you look at the headcode :D} working of the Plymouth - Brighton (class 50 to Portsmouth Harbour then ED onwards)

The Green Monster on the BRI - Weymouth 1989 (thru Trowbridge every day (SuX) for over 5 weeks solid that summer.

Next the Quiz... thru the round window is 47 317... but where?? I'm sure you know:?:

Finally.. a pic from further afield... MV A Class 036 at Cobh with the return to Cork in 1990 - gotta love the steam heated Cravens stock - pity smoking is now banned in Ireland
