TfL have produced a paper on the subject which goes to next week's Surface Transport Panel.
Looks like the basic conclusion is "not value for money" given the basic analysis undertaken so far. Clearly the decision about whether to do more work is being left to the Panel members to decide.

Recommendation
2.1 The Panel is asked to note the results of this preliminary examination of the case for a bus service on Christmas Day and that further work would be necessary to establish a robust business case including a more detailed analysis of likely costs.
