Is there a TOC-specific online journey planner?

Question as per title really. I'm trying to plan a couple of journeys on the £10 Northern Rail day ranger next week between Leeds and the Cumbrian Coast but just about every journey is partly on a TPE service, so I wondered if there's a site where I can select "Northern Rail only" trains?

Yes, I tried that but I still get TPE trains on the journey planners, eg the 1017 from Leeds to Grange Over Sands offers me a change at Carnforth onto the 1211 TPE service.

Yes, but in this case it's the section between Carnforth and Grange Over Sands that's the sticking point. Both Northern and TPE operate services on this section of the route.

Perhaps if you put in a station as a via point which TPE do not call at?

If all else fails, perhaps you can plan manually using something like Realtime Trains.

You'll have to search each leg manually, as there's no way of restricting the search that narrowly. The journey planner will search for a through journey, it won't usually put in a huge gap to get you on a train of the same operator.

For your journey, the Northern trains from Carnforth to Grange over Sands are at 1133 or 1430.

And often, but not always, the VTEC website once you have reached the mixing desk for a particular journey offers a "Show slower routes" option and, if it does, some of the options may be TOC-specific options. Alternatively, sometimes using the extended-interchange-time option on NRE, or on the text-only version of the VTEC journey planner, gives you different journeys, and the "calling at" option on the "timetables only" option of the VTEC planner can also be useful.

You could take the 1017 from Leeds all the way to Heysham and back to Lancaster and still make the 1420/1430 Lancaster/Carnforth Northern train to Grange.

All Northern Rail timetables are available to download from the Northern Rail website, might be a little old fashioned, but it might also be easier.

Alternatively, if you know where you are changing trains, do it a step at a time, selecting direct trains only, thus not giving NRES a chance to select a different TOC.

All Northern Rail timetables are available to download from the Northern Rail website, might be a little old fashioned, but it might also be easier....

On the Cumbrian Coast timetable, they have no indication of who operates each service. In fact it's a reasonable assumption that where a connection at Barrow is shown, then the Lancaster - Barrow bit will be TPE. But you have to know this - it doesn't actually tell you.

The Barrow-Lancaster service isn't detailed in full on the Cumbrian Coast timetable.Oops, turns out it is these days.

The TPE timetable for Barrow-Lancaster- which is what Northern link to from their website- does list the operators.
