I think my wife would have more than a hissy fit if one of those arrived at the house on a low loader!

Incidentally where was the picture taken?

What do you think will happen to them?

Cut up for scrap ASAP

Christ one of those would block up my entire street and the cab would barely fit in the garden!

Mind you i am sure i could run it up and down the Marston Line - no one would notice ;)

One assumes these are long-term stored, stripped and will be sold to scrap dealers.

Incidentally how does DBS/EWS go about nominating small handfuls of locos for sale like this; there are dozens of 58s to shift surely?

If I did order the 58-I'd probably bring the entirety of Selly Oak to a standstill!
No way you can squeeze the cab through the poky ginnel at the side of my student house either; which begs the question: as a student, why would you buy one? Mind you, students are oft known for foolish impulse buys...

While the locos being offered for sale are in a slightly better state than 58017 pictured above (they're still on their bogies!), I think that it is safe to assume that the locos remaining in the UK owned by DB Schenker were all in the worst condition when locos were being selected for shipment abroad to France and Spain. Let alone what effects the ensuing years of deterioration have had on them, and the likelihood that parts were removed to restore the exported locos to service.

I suspect that all these offered for sale will be destined for the scrapyard.

It's certainly a bit of a step up from drunkenly grabbing a traffic cone while staggering back from the pub. ;)

Well they were designed to be easily dismantled for maintenance. Looks like someone has mad a start on 58017.

These are the only five 58s DBS have in this country.

Wow! Okay then, that makes sense!

So the rest are all dumped on the Continent somewhere? I'd always though there was a line of them living in Eastleigh works!

There's a HUGE line of them at Alizay in France; though hopes of getting them to working standard again are slim, after vandals have stolen key components. Corrosion is probably an issue as well.

Bung some MTU's in, use on T3's etc. Not likely though, cost far too much I expect.

You'd be right about a 'mad' start. There's almost more missing from it than not!

Where's that at; the great scrapyard in the sky above? ;)

One reason to buy one and set up in Selly Oak would be to provide something even Oilier than a Dilshad curry
