Good Evening, Folks,

Not sure if I should be starting a new thread for this, I did a brief search and couldn't find a "post your noseyness here" type thing. If this is supposed to go elsewhere after all, mods, please move accordingly.

Yesterday (15/09/15), I was on the 13:36 Paddington-Cheltenham. Upon boarding, I noticed the powercar (43135 I think) making quite a lot more noise than I believed normal. Anyway, hop on, sit for a bit, train manager comes on, says there's a signalling problem, and we're a little delayed. Few minutes pass, and a further announcement is made, stating there's still a signal problem as well as a technical fault, and we would have to wait for a fitter. Less than 10 minutes pass, and, the technical fault is too much, train cancelled, shift to the Bristol service and change at Swindon. Then, as we depart Paddington, we see our designated rake hauled off, I assume to OOC.

Does anyone know, or can anyone find out, what the "technical fault" was, as I'm really rather intrigued. My short time visiting this forum has shown some of you guys can sometimes get quite a detailed answer, so, hoping you can give one for this! On boarding I did hear the train manager say something about the "roster", not sure if that might've been the true reason behind it, something to do with that? or if it really was a powercar issue?

Thanks Folks,

It was most definitely a train failure. The power car had the cooling fans running permanently, which in itself doesn't constitute a failure but may (or may not) have been connected.

Nothing to do with rosters, the TM travelled to Swindon to complete the rest of the turn.

Was certainly rather loud with the cooling fans on its working into London that I was on (06:48 Weston SM - Pad) that morning.

Seem to be a couple like at the moment. I've had 3/4 the last few weeks like it.
