We have a great variety of locations to fly to at Malmo, this morning. We can go anywhere, as long as it's Stockholm! :D

So it's aboard Malmo Aviation flight 142 at 0610 to Stockholm Bromma Airport (BMA) arrival time of 0715 Wednesday morning

We discover Bromma is the home of a general aviation facility, so we rent one of their planes and fly to Hultsfred Airport. Our plane is a Beechcraft King Air, and we're given permission to takeoff at 0800. After a tour of Sweden's east coast, we touch down at 0845... just in time for the weekly club meeting :D

Given the vocal push a few months ago to get an International game started, it's odd how few participants now seem interested in posting land-based (rail or bus) moves - recently it seems just Bodie and myself alternating. But when we get on aircraft, we get a number of different posts in quick succession. Isn't there an internet aviation forum with this facility for plane enthusiasts?

I too have thought the same thing. One possible is that flight moves are quicker. Someone may come on to see where in the world we are and not have much more time. So as flight moves are I think quicker, then it's more likely they'll post.
Also noticed the UK version is almost as quiet. Could it be that two versions spead the number of people too thinly? - I know I'm always meaning to post in there but concentrate on this version. That is another thing, quite a number of folk post in here and not in the UK version and vice versa, might improve things if we could get people to post in both.
As well, a broader appeal for more players on the forum might prove successful.

It's little more than a month since the last time you posted a move involving hiring a plane from General Aviation (= a taxi with wings), also coincidentally from Stockholm Bromma. That was knocked on the head for the reasons quoted in posts #129 & 130, and this latest move should also be struck through.

We should continue by scheduled public transport & we're at
Stockholm Bromma Airport at 0715 Wednesday morning!

Information on plane times - nearly always in English - is rather more readily available quickly than ground transportation. Added to which lack of detailed knowledge of overseas cities makes things a little more difficult. Whereas in the UK version I get the impression that at least some contestants know their cities and sometimes timetables in fine detail

So I dip into both games from time to time - but I'm reluctant to spend 15 minutes researching a move when by the time of posting the game has moved on several journeys

The only thing leaving Daugavpils at this hour is the same train we came from (going onwards to St Petersburg). So I suggest we sleep here for the night, and wake up in the early morning for a new day. The first service I can find proof of is the following:

At 08:50, we board bus service 8912 to Vilnius, where we arrive at 12:20 on Thursday morning. The bus stop is located in front of the main train station.

Beat me to it. Where are we in Kauna

I'd say having done a little research that it's the bus station which is near the railway station. Well within our 1 km range.

We thus pop over there and board Lithuanian Railways 878TJ to Kaišiadorys leaving at 1551 and arriving at 1621 on Thursday afternoon

Unfortunately the ferries left an hour ago and the next are in 23 hours. Added to which the ferry port is way out of town. As is the airport.

We take the first train out in the morning at 0641 and travel to Siauliai where we arrive at 0859 Friday morning

We have just missed a train to the airport, so we waste an hour before boarding the 1600 961T train towards Оро Уостас (Vilnius Airport), arriving at 1607, on Friday.

Please cite a source.

This, to be honest, is what's holding the game back. We don't have to do this in the UK game, so why do we have to do it here? If we didn't have to do this, this game would be noticeably more popular and'll pull in (almost) as many people ass the UK version. That, and it's quicker to formulate a move.

Anyway, we feel like a trip to Israel, so we board the 2005 Finnair flight 797 to Tel-Aviv Yafo airport, arriving at 0030 Saturday morning.

In your post you should clearly state the time your service departs, the company who's service you are using, the service number (if available) and the time and day of arrival at your chosen destination. You must also state the source of your information (for instance the journey planner or website used) and if possible provide a link.

Example post:

We then take Train 2 'Rossiya' from Moscow Yaroslavski station departing at 2345 on Saturday and arriving in Beijing main station at 0546 one week later on Saturday morning. Source here

In answer to the query raised about the need to quote a source for a posting on this particular quiz, the extract above that is clearly stated on the rules section shown on the very first posting of the quiz and therefore a matter that should be adhered to by contestants.

It is no use claiming that other quizzes do not require this matter to be used, as they are totally differing entities with their own rules.

Well we've arrived in Tel Aviv on the Sabbath, which as far as I can tell means no trains or buses into town for around 18 hours - dusk I presume. Bang goes any hope of seeing more than the airport

So bearing in mind a totally unrealistic connecting time. we take the 0105 Aeroflot SU505 flight to Moscow SVO airport (Sheremetyevo ) arriving at 0510 Saturday morning

Finding local transport in an overseas city can be something of a challenge - google is often incomplete, inconsistent and occasionally plain wrong. And if a city has several suburbs with similar names it's easy for someone to start the next leg from the wrong one

So it's only fair to other participants to give a source so they can check you and provide a source to plan the next move.

In the UK there's going to be someone who knows that for example there's two Gillinghams

It took me quite a while for example to work out that Yafo (Jaffa) was Tel Aviv and really called Ben Gurion.

With 12 minutes time to change, it's a perfect way to get onto the 14:02 IC2440 towards Köln Hbf (Cologne). At 16:50 on the Saturday afternoon, we alight at Gütersloh Hbf

We continue on Bavarian slow trains by joining the 0034 Regionalbahn train RB 58272 to Würzburg Hbf arriving 0145 Sunday morning (in nice time for the EuroNight sleeper to Vienna)

Source: bahn.com

Note to anyone who checks up on posted itineraries (surely not!): Planning this journey for the coming Sat night / Sun morning, the train will terminate at Seligenstadt with Rail Replacement Bus forward to Würzburg. This is a temporary arrangement - normal timetable has train travel throughout, as posted here.
