Annual season advice

Hello,

As of next year, I will be working near St Pancras (approx 3/4 time) and near London Bridge (approx 1/4 time), and commuting to both from Sanderstead. Prior to the diversions associated with the reconstruction of London Bridge, a season directly to STP would have sufficed for both stations - is this ticket still valid between Croydon stations and LBG, given the (current) absence of a LBG-STP link?

Whilst a SNR-STP ticket will currently take me on the circuitous back-route to STP, I can't really see how to get between STP and LBG and then between LBG and SNR without Oystering on the days that I need it, which is likely to make my commute a lot more expensive than it would have been without the diversions! Any advice?…

I'm fairly sure that's fine - you're allowed to use the Northern line between Elephant and London Bridge at the moment due to the works, so I can't imagine them not also allowing Southern services. Someone who knows for sure can confirm that

It's worth looking at the thameslinkprogramme website. This suggests that, for no extra cost, your ticket will enable you to do Elephant & Castle to London Bridge, or Blackfriars to London Bridge, by certain buses or certain tube routes. For other alternative routes specified on that site, my experience is that you do not get charged extra if you follow them to the letter.

Also, a Sanderstead to West Hampstead Thameslink (not underground) season ticket is the same price as a Sanderstead to St Pancras (not underground) season ticket, and will give you extra validity via Kensington Olympia if that has the potential to be of use to you.

If you go with Romillys suggestion I'd test it on a weekly first. The West Hampstead ticket may not work the barriers at St Pancras and it gets tedious having to be let through every day in the rush.

I hold an Annual Gold card from a Zone 6 station south of East Croydon to a station in north London, routed: Not Underground. My ticket does not operate the barriers at London Bridge but it's not a big deal as staff are happy to let me through without any dispute. I believe that you will have more chance of the ticket operating the gates if it is issued to a station north of the Thameslink core which is served by Thameslink trains.

The Thameslink website isn't very useful. For 'Southern and Thameslink passengers' it specifically mentions with London Terminals tickets or Thameslink only tickets when discussing the alternative available on selected bus and tube lines. However, the ticket you have in mind is not issued to 'London Terminals' nor is it 'Thameslink only', but St Pancras as a named station is one of the London Terminals - so its not at all clear as to whether these alternative tube/bus routes would be valid. My interpretation is that it is not.

You'd still be able to get to St Pancras by changing onto the very slow Thameslink train at East Croydon, or if you can walk a brisk pace, walk from London Bridge to Blackfriars to join the train there, which is actually faster. These are both valid with the proposed ticket
