This is shown as a provisional date in the back of the PDF of the new UKR brochure in the email newsletter sent out today.

Here are a few things to look forward to in 2016.

Nothing is yet conrmed but keep the dates free!
THE SOUTH WESTERN CENTENARY
Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 February 2016
In conjunction with South West Trains
A weekend event marking one hundred years of third rail electrification on the London & South Western Railway and twenty years of Britain’s longest-running railway franchise.
Based at the former Waterloo International terminal, tentative plans are for an exhibition of third rail rolling stock along with shuttle services. Look out, just possibly, for a fondly remembered South West Trains unit making a one-day comeback!

Could this be a VEP one wonders?

Reading those lines I'd say a yes. Possibly in shuttles with a 73, unless it get's all the required mainline approval stuff to run on it's own before then at Ilford. I wonder which other units will be there as well - the CIG from the Mid Norfolk? Shame we can't bring the former BIG from the GCR!

Ooo. A 442 out of Waterloo again, now there's a tempting prospect!

Absolutely,

Can we add a class 50 and a rake of NSE livered mk2s as well for good measure :D

It is probably a shame that they can't do what they did at the Woking 150 which as I recall featured the 4-Sub and 2 Bil running shuttles.

It'd be nice if they were able to get the old Southern Electrics like the COR, BIL, SUB etc as well as the later SR VEP/CIG/TC/BEP/EPB, and then onto things like the WES, 508/455, up to 444/450.

You'd have a really good progression. Although I don't know what state many of the preserved units are in. I'd imagine poor for the most part.

Didn't the Great Central have a BIG that got stripped by metal thieves and I think the same happened to a VEP as well.

The picture shows a 5WES (class 442), so I'm guessing its that

Yes I think you are correct sadly. :(

As for the 06 -07 Feb trips, It could we be a special charter with a 442 back where it belongs.

It would be good too, if the EMU called Gordon Petit, I think and the EMUS that worked the Lymington Shuttles in more recent years all of which I think are preserved, could run some specials too.

No doubt we'll hear soon enough.

"The Flying Pig" was mentioned in the latest UK Railtour mailing (or soon will be Hertfordshire Rail Tours) as a 442 from Waterloo to Weymouth in the "future tours still being worked out"

Apparently this is getting closer to being worked out according to the latest mailing Southern have confirmed they'll release a Wessie for the day.

I for one would love to be on that trip, but I'm also starting to think that tours are less interesting/adventurous than they once were.

As far as I can remember 442's have run to Eastbourne, Brighton, Hove, Redhill and Ashford via Tonbridge (for works visits) so couldn't a slightly more unusual route be worked out? Say Vic. to Ashford and back first and then a blast to Bournemouth and back?

UKR mentioned on their facebook page that the tour has been postponed - they will announce a new date in a future newsletter.
The planned exhibition is not taking place now.

--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
uk railtours said to me their tour is now not going ahead but to contact southwest trains to see if the show is still going ahead which i did and the lady thought i was talking about the battle of waterloo 100 for some reason, so ive posted them the link to the uk railtour page where it says the show is at waterloo and ill await a reply, seems odd there is absolutly no info anywhere about this show :)

I just hope that the exhibition isn't on the following weekends 2/3 April, 9/10 April, 6/7 August, 13/14 August, 20/21 August as I will not be in London during those weekends.
