09:50 ATW service goes to Holyhead and first connection from Llandudno Junction is 12:53, which connects with the following ATW service so there's no point in catching the 09:50. You can get a £13 Advance on the following service but if you want to catch the 09:50 and break your journey you'll need a ticket costing over £30.

I'm not sure if it might be worth getting a SOR from Warrington to Llandudno and buying separate Manchester-Warrington and Warrington-Preston tickets if you want flexibility.

Sorry missed out 1 detail, I'm travelling to Llandudno Junction outward, having a break to look around Conwy Castle then walking to Llandudno for overnite stay.

I would benchmark suggestions for a combination of tickets against the £58.40 Blackburn - Llandudno Jn route Any Permitted Off-Peak Return, valid by any train.

Impressive, but is Preston-Manchester (-Blackburn) covered by that? Seems counter intuitive (though I realise that's not unknown...)
