It was raining... I thought the island would flood!

We return to the US mainland at 1255 onboard United 1730, arriving into San Francisco International at 2102 Wednesday evening.

Indeed. Peaceful though:lol:

We wait a while for the next BART train, arriving at 10:01 PM. It drops us off a mere two-thirds of a mile from Google's San Francisco data centre, at Embarcadero, CA, the time now being 22:40 this Wednesday night.

Finally, we can leave that country behind.

We take flight Volaris 903 at 01:05 heading out to Mexico.

We arrive at Guadalajara Airport at 07:05 on Thursday morning.

This airport is also known as "Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla Internacional"

Except we can't . The airport is another mile and a half away, and has its own line up to it.

I'll complete the missing link.

We take line 7 at 2320 and arrive for real at Oak land International Airport at 2328 on Wednesday night

Source: BART journey planner

That now makes Quakkerillo's flight move a valid one.

So we are now at Guadalajara Airport at 0705 on Thursday morning

I assumed the stop was at the airport, since it had the airport in its name...

However, we read reports of gang violence nearby, so we return to a more civilised land: Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport onboard United 5663, departing at 0900 and landing at 1115 Thursday morning.

We're still going to leave the country, and head elsewhere.

Hong Kong is our new destination, with a departure at 12:45 on Thursday afternoon, on a flight by American Airlines / Malaysia Airlines / US Airways / Cathay Pacific.

We arrive at 18:00 sharp at Friday afternoon

Source: Flightstats, DFW Airport

Yes, we're suddenly a day later due to passing the the pacific ocean.

We can transfer to Central station here for the Island Line.

3 to 6 minutes recommend for that walk.

No timetable as such, just a estimated journey time of 13 minutes for our planned hop.

We therefore board or MTR Island Line train at 1925 and arrive at North Point at 1938 on Friday evening

Leaving the MTR station to the adjacent Hong Kong Tramways stop at Shu Kuk Street. We're so excited at boarding a vintage 3'6"-gauge double-deck tram that we forget to look at our watch, but it is around 1950 and we arrive at Western Market at 2040 Friday evening.

We then make the one kilometre walk to Kowloon Dock and await the 2230 ferry to Yung Shue Wan Ferry Pier, arriving on this island at 2257 Friday night.

Google Maps

In metric countries, shall we assume 1 kilometre to be the walking limit?

Deciding not to return on the same ferry and the other route from this pier having stopped for the night. We choose to do the same.
Interestingly Lamma Island has no cars, perhaps because there's no road across the island.
So its ferry or bust.

Finding a bed for the night we fall asleep very easily due to that lack of traffic.

Up bright and early to board the 0640 ferry to Aberdeen (No not that one!) Via Pak Kok Tsuen.
We dock at this Aberdeen at 0715 on Saturday morning

Source: td.gov.hk ---- Hong Kong Transport Department

Pontoon arrival at Aberdeen is at Aberdeen Promenade.
Right next to the green Aberdeen Promenade icon on Google maps.

Ha!, yes rude not too use Kilometres in metric countries. Is Hong Kong metric? Was ours after all. Like to think it was and is Miles.

Hong Kong still has many hang-overs from its British past. Cars drive on the left side of the road in HK, whereas it's the right side of the road (left-hand-drive vehicles) across the border in the rest of China.

The design of road signs is still very typically British, although it is odd to see a British (or I should say Scottish) style "Single Track Road With Passing Places" sign also repeat in Chinese characters.

They have however moved to metric, with some idiocyncrasies remaining - like the peculiar British habit of specifying a road's speed limit by how close together the street lights are - 200m or less and the speed limit is 50 km/h (instead of 30 mph)

Specifying this quiz's maximum permitted walking distance at 1 km (0.6 mile) seems an extremely sensible suggestion to me.

---------------------

There are many bus routes to choose from at Aberdeen to various parts of HK island & Kowloon.
We choose to walk 200 metres to Yue Fai Road / Aberdeen Main Road and join a Citybus service 73 at 0740 arriving at Stanley Village (Stanley Village Road) at 0815 Saturday morning.

Source: www.td.gov.hk & www.nwstbus.com.hk.
Route maps & lots of detailed info given on fares, but no specific timetables except frequency guide & estimated journey time.

We have just about enough time to make the transfer onto the 16X bus, leaving at 0831 and arriving into Chai Wan Public Minibus Terminus at 0858 Saturday morning.

Nipping across to the unusual looking MTR station we head away from this terminus at 0905 and travel along the Island line to Admiralty where we alight at 0928 on a Saturday morning

Whilst in Hong Kong, we reminisce about the old Kai Tak airport, sadly closing in 1997, and undergoing redevelopment into a cruise terminal. We decide to pay a visit, firstly boarding the (unusually quiet) 0935 Tsuen Wan Line train as far as M0ng Kok Station, arriving at 0944 Saturday afternoon.

It's a 700m (<½ mile) walk from Möng Kok station to Möng Kok East Station on the MTR's East Rail line. Here we board a train to the Chinese border. Trains are frequent, journey time is 41 mins and we arrive at Lo Wu at 1045 Saturday morning.

Well now, how can you resist when you're delivered to an airport.

Leaving adequate transfer time from rail to air finds us boarding Korean Air 828 to Seoul, Incheon leaving at 1245 and arrives at 1715 Saturday afternoon

We decided to go elsewhere again, as we've visited around here before.
Therefor, we stay in the departures area, and board a plane leaving at 19:25.

This Korean Airlines 625 is bringing us to Jakarta Soekarno Hatta airport.
We are scheduled to arrive at exactly midnight from Saturday going on Sunday.

From what I read about bus transportation in the Philippines, we are best seeing this country by plane.

Eager to get going in this endeavour we stick with Philippines Airlines and step onto flight 1811 to Davao, Francisco Bangoy International Airport (DVO) departure at 0640 and arrival at 0830 on Sunday morning

Seems to be another of those cities that have a dense local bus service that doesn't serve the airport - Google maps says it's a mile walk to the nearest bus stop

So we continue by air to I suspect another of such cities - Zamboanga (ZAM) on Cebu Pacific Air flight 3175, departing at 1050 and arriving at 1150 Sunday morning
