Seeing as there are some drivers on this forum, Do most know what some spotters regard as ''the horn wave'' is?, as I find myself traumatised if I try and do it when they slow down... Is it known?

I would say it is known, when drivers see people doing 'pulling the chain' they certainly know what it means.

Was photting this yesterday and in shot you can see a bird getting hit! It flew and landed about 2 ft away from me and a group of other spotters!

I don't see the point in the chain-pulling motion.
I've seen loads of kids doing this to railtours pulling into pick-up points.. just makes you look like a complete **** in my opinion.

The idea is to do your research to find places where the train won't be slowing down. Or have a performance arranged at least .

There was half a pigeon on the platform the other day which ended up there after being hit by a train. Just as the cleaner was on her way to collect it, a giant seagul swooped down and took it off in its mouth.

So did I when I was about 8..
Nowadays if I can be bothered to film something, if it sounds good great, if I get a horn bonus! I don't go out of my way to stand about making myself out to be some sort of idiot waving my arms about just to get horns.. Same with asking a driver to wide it.. it spoils the fun IMO.
