Anyone else on this weekend's run to Penzance with 55022?

heart-of-wessex and I are on it, joining at Birmingham International. Can't wait for my first ever Deltic haulage! It'll so be worth the fester at Birmingham International overnight!

I know, but not to spend all night wondering round an airport, travelodges can be good, although sometimes you get ranting staff like at Bedford in March 8)

Travelodges are the right way to go.

I'd photograph it, but it's going the wrong way

I'd agree with that one. To save a ridiculous drive both morning and night, I am doing a Travelodge tomorrow night for this tour (with a forum member who arrives from Austria tomorrow!).

I'll be on Langstone.

I hope the weather is a bit better than it was for 37606+37423 and 71000 last Saturday when I was on there!

Wow was the only word I could find for the tour, although some people will have heard me moaning about the stagger through Cornwall. Was so glad to see Devon and the imminent return to civilisation (it's as bad as trekking all the way to Treherbert on a 142 and back).

Very impressed with 55022 generally, some good performances were put in that saw my jaw drop.

Nice to have seen you and Ian again on Saturday Jamie, hope the run up Filton bank was good.

As for the overnighter, we couldn't complain as we got 86627 for all-time sight during the night (couldn't ID the second loco). Did 8 return trips on the airport shuttle which was fun. Wondered around the terminals, then about 0133 the shuttles finished so the fester moved outside, eventually we found a lineside spot having got fed up of missing all of the freights from the benches outside. The time flew by in the end! Too skint for a Travelodge move, especially since this was looking to book 2 days in advance!

Overall, bar the stagger, it was an enjoyable tour and I'm looking forward to the day I get 55022 in again.
