Nope. Enfield (as in the borough)'s big project is currently the Meridian Water development, which will include improvements to Angel Road. I think Enfield Council have stopped messing around with Enfield town centre for the time being.

Why do you ask?

I use to live in Enfield . I have been advised that a Pub next door to the station has been demolished but the area remains undeveloped. I thought TfL might be thinking of improving the station.

There is another big development going at New Southgate, the " Ladderswood " regeneration project. You are quite right though The local council have a lot on their minds.

Hmm, well there hasn't been a pub next to Enfield Town station for as long as I can remember. I'd say that the area is pretty well developed actually, there're no big swathes of empty land in the vicinity of the station.

I know it's not Enfield Town but the neighbouring station in Enfield Chase is currently in the process of being applied as a listed building as it is the only station on the line with it's as built original features and has never been changed.

Plus it's the only station I am aware of on the GN route that has the new station paintwork that has been done, instead of blue they've gone with a maroon colour.

No, like Be3G says, no pub next to the station in recent years. There was a pub called The Enfield Arms (I think), nearby that got demolished, but I'm pretty sure that was related to the new road alongside the station, probably about 10 years ago now.

Some big blocks of flats have been built next to the station in the last few years, but they've gone above some existing shops.

Another Enfieldian dropping in to say I don't know of any pub next to the Town station being demolished. As mentioned above there has been extensive refurbishment of the area immediately around the Town station with a large block of flats being build and the ground level shops being re-done. Not sure what else they could do there, really, as there isn't much space.

Oh yes I'd long forgotten about that place! Not quite on the corner of Genotin Road but a little way down; you can just about see the (still extant) public car park in the background of the photo on that page.

I can still (just about – I was very young) remember the ABC cinema that stood where the Tesco is now. I suppose that when you look back the area has seen quite a transformation over the years, although I can't say the new flats above Colman Parade do much for me personally.

Interesting to hear about Enfield Chase, thanks for that HLE 13.

You're welcome, I'm not sure on the progress of the application though. All I know is what the manager for the station told me, I believe it's been pushed though by a former BR signaller who used to work on the line and who is now very much involved in the community side of it hence why Enfield Chase and other stations such as Bowes Park have these flower boxes on the platforms.
