Thameslink & Southern have both just tweeted that the line is blocked both directions due to an incident. Sorry unable to post link at present. Will be a bad night if this information is accurate.

Carried out the investigation and the coroner has made his report already, my they are getting quick at these!
Or did you mean it was a person hit by a train in non suspicious circumstances!
There are numerous reports on twitter of a man jumping from a bridge, so.......
Services have now resumed running.

The line has reopened just now. But you have trains up to 90 minutes late coming INTO London bridge.
Various news reports have a man falling from a bridge into the path of the aforementioned Guildford train. Not pleasant for the driver at all.
Thames link are doing okay, but as I speak there's a track circuit failure at Redhill which is likely to add to problems tonight.

Did they see him jump?
Did they speak to him before it and he told them what he was going to do?
Can they be 100% certain he intended to kill himself?
It might have been an accident!
At least there aren't any jokes about this incident, yet. :roll:

Most (all) threads about train crashes/derailments etc seem to end up (start with actually) with people making jokes about it without caring that there are people on that train who have probably had a very scary experience (especially the poor sod sat at the front) but hey as long as posters can make a joke out of it who gives a flying fig!
See the thread about the train hitting the cows north of Doncaster (where Yorkie moved all the jokes into a separate thread to no avail) or the derailment in Kent, where the jokes started on the 3rd reply which was before the seriousness of the derailment was known and the jokes were quickly removed when it did become known, I was kind of hoping that people would have been a bit more thoughtful after that one, but I was wrong.
Anyway back on topic, I am sure the driver will be receiving all the help they need after this incident.

There are quite a few different bridges at Brockley station itself, and nearby - but, as somebody who has done a fair amount of scouting around the station to update railway documentation, I can assure you that it would be pretty hard to fall from any of them onto the Down Fast without any intention to be doing something you shouldn't.
It's an awkward station to control and maintain, and I can only imagine how difficult this situation was to manage in that location, let alone the tragic circumstances themselves. Obviously my thoughts also go to the driver. IIRC they would have been driving a 455, so hopefully the extensive metal bodywork and modified structure will have stayed reasonably intact.
Yes I do agree with you about the inappropriate attempts at humour about the Doncaster and Chilham incidents and I'm sure it was no laughing matter for those involved.

Said before - midsummer madness at the moment - lots of incidents that do not make the main media sites.....(and a heck of a lot of proactive work by station , traincrew and NR staff in minimising overall delay and disruption) ....

Until we get some kind of official confirmation I think we should refrain from speculation as to what did or didn't happen accident or deliberate
Either way its sad to hear of this many incidents occurring on the same week

And Hayes services were rammed as that's the only viable alternative route from London Bridge to East Croydon with a tram from Elmers End
Agree with you with that.
If it was suicide, up most sympathy for the person who did it and hope the causes are looked into and hope nothing to do with the Welfare cuts and so on. (for that, speaking from experience stopping my father taking a overdose) If it is there, shows up the support system again.
If a accident, again sympathy towards the person, but hopefully steps are taken to hopefully stop something similar again though.
Of course feel sorry for the driver and all others involved to.
