Sheffield to Worksop Nottingham and Alfreton

Hi

I need to travel from Sheffield (around 7am) tomorrow to Worksop, then onwards to Nottingham, then Alfreton before returning back to Sheffield.

I made a fairly similar journey for which an anytime day return Barnetby - Nottingham was recommended - is this valid on this route and also the cheapest option? Any advice would be much appreciated

The £32.80 anytime return (not a mere anytime day return) would seem to be valid for what you propose. I tested it on the VT East Coast journey planner.

I've looked into it further and I could get a Sheffield - Worksop single in the peak for £5.80.

Would a £13.90 Barnetby - Nottingham Off-Peak day return be valid to start short at Worksop and travel on the a Robin Hood Line via Mansfield towards Nottingham?

Yes, you can use this ticket via Worksop on the outward leg and via Nottingham and Afreton on the return leg.

I'm really surprised Sheffield to Nottingham isn't valid via Worksop! You'd think they'd want to encourage more use of that line!
