So in September I was given a penalty fare notice because I did not have my train ticket due to my own fault (lost my ticket).
It was not long after that I moved address. From September to June all correspondence was going to my old University halls address and I have only just discovered this today.
I have spent the last 4 hours trawling through the internet trying to find out the next best course of action.
Ideally, an out of court settlement would have been the best scenario, however, it's too late for that. I missed my court hearing. I also missed the date to my court fine (9th July).
I did not give any financial information to the court and as such they are asking for the full amount. I cannot afford this without a payment plan.
I have a drafted letter explaining that I cannot pay the full amount and I'm thinking about sending it out asap. I can't get through to the court because it's the weekend.
Would this be the next best course of action? More importantly, what are the implications of this whole situation?
Bylaw 18.2 is what I breached. I am in the process of applying to graduate jobs. Will it show up in my CRB check? Also, what do I have to put down if it asks "do you have any spent/unspent convictions" in future applications.
I'm so disappointed with myself.
