We change trains & TOC by taking the 1953 East Midlands Trains service to Doncaster where we arrive at 2023 on Wednesday evening.

Then, at 20:46, we board a First Transpennine Express service 1B90 to Cleethorpes. We don't stay on it long, getting off at the next station Scunthorpe at 2112 on Wednesday evening.

Next we take the 2131 Northern service to Kirk Sandall, arriving 2201 on Wednesday evening.

It's a three minute walk to the bus stop opposite Denton's Lane. There's still a sparse service at this time of night, and a First South Yorkshire number 84 bus arrives at 22:37. We take the short journey to its terminus at Barnby Dun Church Road/Marlow Road at 22:45 on Wednesday evening.

We then take the First South Yorkshire 84 service departing at 2248 to its terminus of Doncaster Interchange where we arrive at 2314 on Wednesday evening.

Please note the revised journey appears 2 or 3 posts below this one. After checking the rules after Pauls posting I dont think this one was allowed.. Looks like I'm now in the Inspectors office answering difficult questions!

Let's go North. We consider going to the station, but get distracted by the National Express 436 coach service towards South Shields, which is boarding in the station prior to its scheduled 23:25 departure. Tempted by the concept of a seat (and maybe a few hours sleep) for a few hours, we take the slow, overnight service going Northbound, and alight at Peterlee Bus Station at 04:20 on Thursday morning.

I assumed that it was the return working of the same bus which had just terminated on route 84 and rather than spend the night there I thought it would be better to get back to somewhere we might be able to continue from, however after checking the rules I don't think its a valid move so I will replace it with the one below:

We then take the final First South Yorkshire 84 service departing at 2345 to its terminus of Wheatley, Clay Lane West (Doncaster Bus Garage I suspect ) where we arrive at 2353 on Wednesday evening.

This also makes Me123's move posted after mine invalid and we should continue from this posting.

That's it for the night, so we have dinner/ sleep at the Bangla Chef before boarding the 0458 First in South Yorkshire no. 87 (from the Ogden Road stop), arriving at Doncaster Duke Street (CS2) 0521 Thursday morning.

Doncaster station is just opposite. We have time to grab some breakfast before boarding the 0646 CrossCountry service 1O82 to Southampton Central, arriving there at 1117 on Thursday morning.

There seems to be a missing link in the tram network at the moment so we walk to bus stop D outside the station and board the London General 93 bus departing at 1255 and alight at Morden Road Tram Stop where we arrive at 1309 on Thursday afternoon.

As the tube strikes don't happen in this game, we head to South Wimbledon station and board the 1329 Northern Line service to its terminus of High Barnet, arriving at 1434 Thursday afternoon.

:cry: Everytime I get us on a National Express Bus, it goes wrong. Not that I particularly like NX buses, just they often go to locations we haven't explored much, and at low frequencies it can be a challenge to get one.

As the tube strikes don't happen in this game, we head to South Wimbledon station and board the 1329 Northern Line service to its terminus of High Barnet, arriving at 1434 Thursday afternoon.

Tight but manageable connection next, we just make it onto a Metroline 714 service towards Luton at 14:40. We get off at Luton Airport Bus Station at 16:03 on Thursday afternoon.

Speaking of airports...

...we are tempted to check in for EasyJet Flight 2267 to Barcelona (leaving at 1745 GMT), but the omnipresent Inspectors Oxted and Sidorczuk force us to instead board the 1615 888 bus (operated by First Essex...?) to Luton Airport Parkway station, arriving at 1621 Thursday afternoon.

Well, if I'd been able to fly, I'd have gone North to Scotland. So, since I've got the next move, I'll take us in broadly the right direction by boarding 1D54, the 16:49 East Midlands Trains service to Nottingham. Having left London in the rush hour, it's busy and as we progress Northwards it doesn't look like it's getting any better. So we we bail at Leicester at 17:50 on Thursday evening.

PS, apparently the 888 is operated by First Essex, although they don't seem to be very vocal about it!

We head to another airport - Stansted - on the 1818 CrossCountry service, arriving to the noise of a Boeing on takeoff at 2040 Thursday evening.

I decide we are going on a National Express Coach, so we wait for the 21:15 number 727 National Express service. We take a tour of the London airports around the M25. We decide not to visit each one in turn, and stay on until the bus terminates at Brighton Coach Station at 01:15 on Friday morning.

There is only a short wait for the 0135 National Express service 025 which we take to Worthing, Marine Parade where we arrive at 0200 on Friday morning.

Recreating an actual journey made at the end of April this year IN REAL LIFE....

We next board the 1040 Anglian Bus service 61 to Southwold (Kings Head PH) that arrives there at 1207 on Friday afternoon.

We stop for lunch in the Kings Head, although we sadly find it permanently closed. We reflect that this is an odd feature of using pubs on public transport timetables; that more often than not they seem to be closed, but are still deemed important enough to be on timetables!

Anyway, we grab a quick pub lunch in the nearby Crown Hotel, before returning in time for the 13:00 Anglian Bus service 88A service, alighting at Halesworth Rail Station at 13:27 on Friday afternoon.

A three minute walk takes us to the bus stop on Mount Close where we next board the 1342 Anglian Bus service 88 to Hedenham (The Mermaid PH) that arrives there at 1417 on Friday afternoon.

A three minute walk to the bus stop on Lower Olland Street gives us the opportunity to ride on a different bus service, so we board the 1544 Anglian Bus service 80 to Diss bus station that arrives there at 1629 on Friday afternoon.

Being too far away from the railway station, our trip to Ipswich must be by bus. So at 16:55 we board the Simonds 113 service towards Ipswich Railway Station, arriving at 18:13 on Friday evening.
