So later on this week I'm going to London in a dire attempt to cross off some of the SWT and Southern fleet. I'm already making progress by going on the SWT Bristol to Waterloo service, which at £16 First Class isn't bad, so looking forward to it!

Are there plug sockets in First Class on the 159s?

I've only been on one 159 to date (159012) and even that was only from Trowbridge to Bristol (thought it would just be an FGW service) and they look fairly nice!

I want to try and cover some of the tramlink as well as going to Stratford, so I'm thinking of taking a train to Wimbledon, tram to West Croydon, Overground to Dalston Junction or somewhere and then up to Stratford. I also want to cover more of the DLR!

Any suggestions as to what I can do to cover the most stuff in?

Remember you will have to change at Woking in order to get a train to Wimbledon, or go to Clapham Junction and double-back. Dalston Junction and Dalston Kingsland (on the Stratford line) are close to each other, but you could change between the Overground and the DLR at Shadwell, however its quite a lot of flights of stairs, and crossing a road. Which parts of the DLR do you want to cover?

There are plug sockets in First Class on the SWT 158s, located underneath the tables. Same with the 159s

I was going to catch a tram from Wimbledon to West Croydon, then the Overground from West Croydon to Shadwell, and then the DLR from there to Stratford changing at Poplar (or I could take the DLR to Canning Town and then take the quicker Jubilee Line from there). As for which parts of the DLR I want to cover, I've done Bank to Royal Victoria and Poplar to Stratford. I still need to go to Woolwich Arsenal, Beckton and Lewisham so I will do that at some point in the day.

I've also just realised that my bloody train from Bristol calls at Wimbledon on the way, and I could have booked my Advance ticket to there as it was the same price there as it was to Waterloo (same for Clapham Junction also!). I also want to cover the northern section of the Victoria Line as I haven't covered north of Highbury & Islington so I will also try and do that by taking the Overground from Stratford and then changing from there. Many of the journeys I'll be taking are a lot quicker on the tube, but I need to cover far more of the Overground and the DLR so that's my main focus!

If you 'finish' at Lewisham you can get a train from there straight to Waterloo East, then walk over the bridge back to Waterloo.

Obviously due to the tennis championships, shame you didn't realise sooner, didn't realise you had an AP into Waterloo. Maybe having a quiet word with the guard might not be wasted, they can always say no, but trains to Wimbledon leave every 3-4 mins from platforms 1-4 at Waterloo, mainly 455 with the occasional 456 as well. You could ride on the Stratford International branch of the DLR from Canning Town, particularly as those trains I believe go to/from Beckton, so you could start with a DLR from Shadwell to Beckton then direct up to Stratford. You can get the bus from Stratford to Walthamstow, the 69 is the quickest, but enjoy your day and looking forward to reading the report.

You may also be able to get one of each type of tram. If you get one of the original Bombardier trams on the 3 from Wimbledon, then at Therapia Lane as you arrive there is a siding on the right where the trams on line 4 reverse from Elmers End and is also the main spur into the depot. Most trams on line 4 tend to be the newer Stadler type, so it may be worth it for you. I have done that before, changing off a busy tram onto an empty one starting, particularly if it is set up, headlights on and a driver sitting on it.

I'm not that bothered about having to go into Waterloo and then back out. I'll exit the station with my normal ticket and then tap back in on Oyster. When I get to Wimbledon, I need to just tap on the reader on the tram platform don't I, as The tram boarding validators at Wimbledon have recently been specially programmed to end any valid open rail journey before it deducts the tram fare?

To be honest, as I've never been on the tram ever, I'm not that bothered as to what turns up yet!
