And of course it depends on the state of the PU, the fuel injectors (how clean they are or aren't), the oil, how well lubricated the turbochargers are, how cold the engine might be, how long it's been since the loco last worked hard or at all, how much oil is being burnt by the turbochargers, if any, and how long the loco has been standing idle at a station or signal for. But of course you knew that already ;)

Of course

You probably sited Mr Palmer, I had a chat to him on the platform at Keighley prior to the 20 departure, hadn't been doing too many moves on the trains, but plenty in the pub as I understand it.....

Didnt spot you either, was expecting to see you at somepoint though! Think I saw him just before 1545 Keighley to Oxenhope, I almost half expected to bump into you on train coming to/from!

Nah, it was only a short pub move, but it was worth it! Unlike some of you lightweights, I was there from 9:30 to the last arrival into Oxenhope!!! :P My dad was also wearing an Retro Railtours polo shirt too.

Is there nothing to stop you having two weekend of bashing?? ;) Especially when you consider Yorkies' group booking discounts.......

I'm no expert, but I think it basically translates as:

A warm, clean, recently serviced, well mantained- but used well- engine should produce minimal clag even under high load.
Exactly ;)

The main event was Friday, D1023 - my ears were ringing from it! 37s on beerexes are just common... :)

Not true at all. One, there is more clag, as the loco is on it's own, hauling 8/9 coaches up there, thus more clag comes out. If you used three, then there'd be much less coming out.

Why not only use the front loco, and have the other two 'dead'. Even more noise then! :D

Mr. Palmer: I cannot do both as my finances just won't allow it. Besides, going to Scotland twice in two weeks? Canna be done. Big discounts with yorkie or not, I can't do it.

If you ever do a tour down my way that leaves at a sociable time of day, preferably doing track I need, then you will probably see me booking!

Updated. See http://www.retrorailtours.co.uk/rt1_delticscot.php

The tour has been diverted and now goes via Eccles/Wigan (using a very rare curve!!)

This is due to the line via Chorley being closed for engineering work on the arches north of Chorley.

It could have gone via Hag Fold or Westhoughton but I believe there were no paths available. TPE are diverting via Westhoughton and Northern are putting buses on.

A generous reduction in fare is available to anyone booking on this tour as part of the Railforums group booking. PM me for details.

Some of us have just got £19 family room travelodges too!

These really do need to go up. People can hardly agree to them if they aren't displayed....

Legal matters comes to mind, as pointed out by another person to me. If something happens (i.e. passenger can't make the tour having booked, or if the tour is delayed and you only get less than an hour in Edinburgh), or if it's cancelled, then people will demand to know what they are entitled to and whether they get a full (or part) refund. Otherwise the next call will be from a solicitor.

Perhaps if they were up then it would get things rolling...

EDIT: Still not up as of 22/6/08 - my advice would be to get them up very soon, in fact this week!
