I did send a PM to the forum quizmasters about the non-fixed link ex mainland as none of these are mentioned in the rules of this quiz. All that came in response was a posting on this quiz thread that made reference to the Isle of Wight being acceptable to use on this quiz, but that information and information on any other offshore islands has never been entered into the rules section, so that contestants know what can be used and what can not.

I'd play it safe and not use any offshore islands except that of the Isle of Wight until the forum quizmasters get around to looking at the PM that was sent to them some time ago and make a formal entry addition in the quiz rules section.

Quite so, just to prove a point, as all we know is that the words "fixed link" in respect of connections to islands (e.g. Anglesey and Skye) are the only words to offer any sort of guidance to contestants when making reference to the rules section.

How about "offshore" also being fully defined by the forum quizmasters in the lack of any clarification in the rules section?

Luckily we have clearance for Lympstone Commando, so we walk to the rail station and wait for the 20:15 Great Western service that arrives there at 20:20 on Monday evening.

Unfortunately, Lympstone Commando is a rare example of a passenger station not open to the general public and is exclusively for the use of visitors to the Royal Marine Commando Training Centre (well, the station is the property of Network Rail, but the subsequent exit heads straight onto MoD property). We therefore have no option but to remain on the platform, where we wait for the 2117 First Great Western service 2E56. As we are at a request stop, we must flag down the train. It duly stops and we have the opportunity to take it to a brand new station, Newcourt, arriving there at 2126 on Monday evening.

The 22:23 Great Western service arrives us in Paignton at 23:39 on Monday night.

Sadly, there are no more trains from Paignton for the remainder of the evening, except for the 2341 to Exeter but that is only two minutes after our arrival which is insufficient time. We instead call it a night before boarding the 0702 CrossCountry service 1M29 to Weston-super-Mare, arriving there at 0831 on Tuesday morning.

We wait around a bit before boarding the 09:29 Great Western service to London Paddington, which, like us, has come from Paignton. We decamp at Chippenham at 11:24 on Tuesday morning..

We are fortunate that the Dartmouth Steam Railway is running a night service. We photograph our locomotive and board the 0000 departure, arriving into Dartmouth at 0029 on Tuesday morning.

We glance over the wall and see no further transport. We cross platforms and see an HST depart, so we end up waiting for the 1055 FGW service to the Capital. However, fancying getting there on an electric train, we alight at Reading, the time being 1145 on Tuesday morning.

I know this makes no difference to the running of the existing journeys as too many postings have elapsed, but please note the following:-

Posting # 5320 had an arrival time of 0831 on a Tuesday morning

The following posting # 5321 had a departure time of 0829, which logic decrees to be two minutes PRIOR TO the arrival time of 0831
