My 1993 Alumicart

Another bout of news from the bowels of the Not Very Reliable, the new attraction, which is my 1993 built 2-man petrol Alumicart, built by R Bance of Surrey.

Found dumped in a forest, miles from any railway, obviously lying there for years getting battered by chavs etc, i decided to take it to the NVR for a rebuild. Coming along nicely, now has a 5.5hp engine and 4:1 reduction chain drive. a 12v 110Ah battery powers its two 60 headlamps, 25w rear marker and two noisy horns. Also a trailer supply plug will be built in to power lighting on a trailer, and the civil's trolley we have acquired is being overhauled so that one half will have a seat and a 2kW generator, for site power etc, and the other half for tools etc.

Currently waiting on the axle wheel thread to be re-tapped, and a new brake. Future additions will include a 12v cigarette lighter and a CB radio for comms with the rest of the railway.

I just got it because it was getting broken, i suppose the real reson so i can play with it

The civils are interested in it, but im not sure if it will actually be allowed to run!

Id love to take it to galas, would be awesome, so any offers let me know!

It weights ~140kg but fits into a car trailer

Ill see if there is any chance the MRC would let you run it at all they tend to like any traction plus anything fun draws in the kid's soo ya never know.
