Hi all,

At the end of April I attended an assessment centre for FGW, however failed on one of the tests. During the assessment centre itself we were told we would receive feedback on the test if we failed within 3 weeks (I did think that was a bit optimistic) detailing the strong and weak points. As I'm sure you're aware it's now mid June and I still haven't heard anything.

I fully understand there is no benefit for FGW to detail my weak points and provide feedback so I can improve, but does anyone know how much longer I should have to wait, or what other options I have to understand where I went wrong?

Thanks in advance!

That would help if I told you! It was for the position of conductor/Guard.

Not sure if this is going to help but will try.
when I sat a driver assessment today we where told that the FOC could only tell us if we had passed or failed. To find out what you failed on you need to contact the OPC.
If the OPC conducted your tests then they are the only ones that can tell you which tests you passed and which you failed.

Not in my experience...I had the misfortune to both fail a few years back and also have a lady called bianca assess me, hence she ( eventually ) supplied feedback - you'd think she was discussing nuclear launch codes! Scant information, reticent about revealing much detail at all. I passed the assessments this year at DB Schenker in Doncaster, they're altogether much more helpful and professional to deal with. I know you aren't given the option which company is used though. Good luck getting through to them!

So out of interest who would you suggest I contact? The HR department at FGW, or contact OPC directly? And can anyone supply the most suitable email please? Knowing how first group email policy works, presumably a direct Email to the lady that held the assessment centre could work?

OPC, FGW will direct you there anyway as their only interest is pass / fail and maybe your score if they're an " enhanced pass " company. They give away as little as possible regarding where you failed ( or did with me ), it's been suggested it's like that so you can't revise excessively for your next attempt in that area, get hints, etc.

I failed on my lone working example of the MMI first time around and passed the rest so mine was easy to address, dredging up a good example from 28 years in the same industry came easy after the fact, not so on the day. I passed 2nd time and lone working wasn't one of the 6 examples i was asked, it was included in the body of the interview though.

Try not to tear yourself to bits over it, easier said than done i know...visiting this forum and job websites becomes habitual :|

I suppose when you want something that much, you annoy yourself that you were given the opportunity to show yourself and still fail. I was more annoyed as I felt that I delivered a strong test when compared compared to my practice attempts in the work books I was given, human nature makes you want to know what you did wrong.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but having contacted FGW 3 times, each time they say they'll get back to me and never do.

I've also contacted OPC who were quite adamant that they will not provide me with the feedback as they did not assess me.

What should I do now?
