London Spezial - Return Journey Only

Just a quick question, is it possible to get a London Spezial ticket for the return journey?

ie. If I wanted to get a Spezial from London - Berlin, seperately buy a ticket to Frankfurt, would I be able to get a Spezial from Frankfurt - London without the London - Frankfurt part?

Yes. Just book the two London legs in separate sessions.
Depending on how long you're staying in Berlin or Frankfurt, you might be able to book London-Berlin (stopover up to 48h?)-Frankfurt or Berlin-Frankfurt (stopover up to 48h)-London as one ticket!

On the other hand, Berlin to London via Frankfurt almost certainly does, and you can extend the 48hr to 96hr quite easily by choosing two reasonably adjacent IC stations, and doing the intermediate bit on local trains. Frankfurt Hbf and Frankfurt Airport?

Berlin-Frankfurt-London certainly does - I tried it.
Couldn't manage to find a Frankfurt-Berlin(break)-London fare, even on services which were entirely ICE+Eurostar, but I did find a fare for London-Frankfurt(break)-Berlin on the 0650 from London, ICEs to Frankfurt arrive 1430, and depart 39 hours later at 0614 for Berlin. Attached screenshot

The cities are arbitrary at the moment; I was just looking into a relatively circular trip like that in the Autumn, for a weekend. Probably something like leaving London on a Thursday night, staying the night in Brussels, and then onwards on the Friday (I noticed most of the €59 tickets had this schedule, a very early start on Friday might be a bit more suitable if cheap), changing to a different city on Saturday afternoon, and then back home on the Sunday evening.

I've had a look around the DB London Spezial section, but have no idea how to do via points, or make it give me a ridiculously long stopover. Anyone fancy enlightening me?

I've set myself up with a variation on your itinerary, but had to stop the return trip at Paris: I opted for 1st class, at only €20 more, if I recall, but trying to add Eurostar as well made the cost prohibitive (sorted that myself for £36).

Anyway, you should use the Journey Planner to query a journey with start and end points; click the "Enter stopover" link, which allows you to choose a break (in hh:mm form). Now just "Search" and you'll see your complete journey, with extended journey time incorporating your stopover. You'll probably have to vary the times to get exactly what you want, but it's all fairly simple (and good fun too, if you like the planning side of travel).

Hope that's clear - I'm sure someone else has given you another, better, explanation while I've been typing this.

Last time I bought them, it was possible to buy London Spezials as Singles, and I had to to get the lowest price on each leg, which meant buying them the day DB reservations opened!

The default is single, but you can add a return, and choose different routings either way.
