Just received this email from vintage trains due to WCR license suspension

Also being confirmed in Rail Online

http://www.railmagazine.com/news/network/2015/04/02/west-coast-railways-operating-licence-suspended

Notice Regarding All Railtours in April, 2015
Dear Passengers,

We regret to advise you that as of Friday 3rd April, our Train Operating Company (TOC) of choice, West Coast Railways (WCR), has suspended all of its operations pending resolution of an incident that occurred earlier this year. Vintage Trains has played no part in the incident or the subsequent investigation, however we are affected by the suspension of WCR's operations. We expect the investigation and the subsequent return to operations by WCR to be completed soon, but the immediate result to Vintage Trains will possibly be the postponement of three trains: The City of New Orleans on 11th April, The Coastal Explorer on 18th April and The White Rose to York on 25th April. Over the Easter break we will investigate alternate dates for these trains. We will contact you as soon as we have more definite information.

We apologise for the inconvenience and share in your disappointment and frustration..

Sincerely

Everyone at Vintage Trains

Big shame
Yep it is and all the punters who booked with VT and other operators who are all innocent parties. None the less, safety has to be the highest priority over anything and so I full support NWR action over this

Great shame for Vintage Trains. I have travelled on a dozen or more of their trains over the years - the first being the 'EWS Crew training special' with Union of South Africa when I was a kid. I've followed their fortunes over the years and donated to Birmingham Railway Museum projects so I hope they don't lose too much cash flow of good will from this.

They are at greater risk than others as they own locos and stock and it's all vacuum braked so DB won't touch it.

Yes a great shame, will this affect railtours with other railtour firms?

This is a real shame. I would like to be clear about this. On Easter Monday A4 Union of South Africa was scheduled to run down the Tyne valley line passing hexham around 17.10. We were going to go to the station and stand on the footbridge and film this magnificent engine streaking( forgive the pun) through doing around 60. What a sight that would be. The train is still scheduled on real time trains. So has this particular train been cancelled or rescheduled? I believe it's coming through again on May 16. This time it's going towards Carlisle. That may be an even greater sight as it rounds the bend into Hexham. It's uphill and the driver can open her fully up when she goes through the station pulling over 500 tonnes behind her. If it's running I'll be on the footbridge for that one.

Looks like the charter on Easter Monday is postponed.
Tomorrows charter from Cleethorpes to Llandudno is reported on other forums as being worked by DB Schenker, who will use 67006 and 67026 (my weekend isn't ruined now :p )

From a statement released by WCR today...

However all trips remain unaffected and will run as normal under licence of another operator, using the same vintage Mk2 carriages, passengers will not be affected and all schedules including the Jacobite will continue as normal, should there be any changes to services passengers will be notified
in advance.

They are only talking about the trips they promote.

Other promoters will have to make their own arrangements with DB and DRS...

Which is why I posted this at the start specific to VTL in rail tours section
Nothing to do with the WCR incident discussion other than the impact that has on other rail tours
Thanks
