Nottingham to Cambridge via Stevenage

Is a route NOT LONDON ticket allowed this way? Ie 35 mins past the hour NOT-GRA xx:17 GRA-SVG then the xx:17 SVG-CBG, rather than changing at Ely. My friends also going to CBG on a London train and I was to join them if my tickets valid and it'll be nice to get some ECML mileage in!

Yes, that's fine, there is an easement which permits doubling back between Stevenage (SVG) and Hitchin (HIT) for this purpose.

Please define station codes the first time they are used though, in this case GRA is Grantham, the others are self-explanatory as you've put the station names in the title (this time )

And, if you do use station codes, they must be the correct codes!

I suspect that 700070 is probably the one that the journey planners are using to allow this, however the text wording says 'via Cambridge', which wouldn't apply here

Good point. In these circumstances, I would buy a Nottingham - Shelford Cambs ticket. For all tickets routed Not Via London, this is the same price as Nottingham - Cambridge and it is permitted to end the outward leg and start the return leg at Cambridge.

No ticket checks apart from the EMT leg. The Nat Rail website tried to get my to change at PBO but I preferred a non-stop EC service to GRA.

Regularly see people travelling this way. Seems to be a few booked in advance often on the 20:51 off notts to Grantham.
