Purchasing a plusbus ticket

Who funds plus bus? One can get a plus bus ticket for Guildford but when I enquired about Farnham no such ticket existed.

It's a government initiative iirc and supported by the operators. I don't think there is additional funding but open to corrections.

Farnham would come under the Aldershot and Camberley PlusBus zone. Only Aldershot, Farnborough Main/North, and Camberley are interchange stations.

What does that mean? That passengers can get a Plusbus, so long as they don't want to travel by train to Farnham and are happy to get out at Aldershot instead?

Also if your a season ticket holder, would it be that you must never buy a season ticket allowing travel to and from Farnham, if you wish to use Plusbus? Seems a bit anti Farnham if that was the case.

I think it used to be the case that any station inside the zone would do, but they "simplified" it at some stage so that now officially you can only buy PlusBus if you have a rail ticket to/from an interchange station, which has unintended side-effects for people not buying a ticket to these stations.

Anti-Farnham? Probably yes as things stand.

Lots of ticket office staff will apply common sense. For example I buy a York - Leeds ticket I can get Leeds Plusbus. A York - Morley ticket is not technically available with Plusbus, but for some journeys it will be quickest to get the train to Batley and then the bus. So if you 'shop around' you will probably find a way to get a Leeds plusbus ticket issued. It's the same fare and your ticket is valid at Leeds so...
