Uxbridge to Denmark Hill, pink validator really necessary?

Last Saturday I travelled from Uxbridge to Denmark Hill using the Piccadilly (Met had engineering works south of Harrow-on-the Hill), Bakerloo, Jubilee via Canada Water on London Overground.

I was charged £5.20 rather than £3.10 as I didn't realise that I had to touch the pink validator for the journey. (TfL have since refunded me £2.10)

The Oyster fare finder has the £5.20 fare as the default journey. Why is this as I can't see how this journey can be done without requiring an OSI somewhere along the journey unless travelling via Canada Water?

Good point. I suppose the assumption is the main route normally would be to go via Farringdon on TL and then the Met. This of course wasn't possible last weekend.

You don't need Southeastern for that, Thameslink operate the Sevenoaks services now. And frustratingly it's only the line beyond Elephant & Castle that causes the mixed mode premium to kick in.

I believe it's still Southeastern drivers who operate the units on behalf of TL south of Blackfriars, but a Thameslink service nether the less.
