Thameslink Depot at Peterborough?

Here are some pictures of the new sidings at Peterborough which I believe are for Thameslink. Am I right?

There's also a picture of the nearby Eastfield signal box. I've never understood the name of this box as it's on the west side of Peterborough.

The taxi fares wont be as much as people think, there will be a tender/contract issued which would equate to about half what I would pay, the taxi drivers don't mind so much as they sacrifice the full fare for regular income, the same when they take someone to school each day or a hospital run, ie the taxi driver knows he has his rent covered for ferrying people to and from the sidings for a couple of hours a day, then he goes off to the rank for bonus fares

I guess the only thing they don't like about it is that they will have to keep invoicing the client and waiting 30 days for the money but once up and running it tales care of itself

Surprised the sidings have been built on a curve. Granted it fits the site, but most modern facilities I have seen are built straight.

Assuming its the 700s rather than the 317s / 365s this won't be a problem from an attaching point of view. If its the 317s / 365s however....

The train drivers will probably be better clients than some of the usual types the taxi drivers have to put up with.

I think these are just stabling and cleaning, as the main depot for the north side of Thameslink is near Hornsey.

The plan appears to be to still use the meme for stabling and the new spital yard for washing and cleaning so lots of shunting between the 2. Weather it happens or not will depends on paths across the mainlines.

The new Selhurst sidings have also been built on a curve, sharper than this one by the looks of it.

These are the new Thameslink stabling roads however they are being referred to as a depot.

IIRC correctly, quite a few Thameslink Programme new build stabling have been built on curves, Field Sidings at Selhurst and Horsham.

To be honest the curves arnt a major issue. Letchworth, the nene and kings cross play 9-11 are all on curves and regularly see attachments. You just need to ensure the jaws are fully open and flaps fully up and go onto the unit with a bit more force. The roads at the nene can take a few attempts with a 317. But as has been said, the majority of trains in the new spital will be 700s which won't be attached. But the curve of the new roads is certainly no worse than the meme, letchworth or kings x.

I'm assuming these photos are facing North and hence the new sidings are to the east of the main lines. As an outsider, I always thought the spaghetti-like arrangement of tracks to the North of the station seemed a bit haphazard. Some wagons don't seemed to have moved in the 14 years I've lived in the area.

Yes they are facing north taken from Westwood bridge, don't forget the tracks north of the station are just the remnants of what was there 40/50 years ago.

Once the 700s are fully in service, on the current plans there won't be anymore 317/321 at great Northern and Peterborough will only be served by 365s in the peaks, so I'd have thought they'll either continue to use Nene sidings or run ECS from Hornsey
